GSCY Awarded 2022 Silver Medal Club Status by USA Swimming, Ranked #1 Team in New Jersey Swimming and #1 YMCA Team in the Nation
USA Swimming announced its annual Club Excellence Program rankings, and GSCY is proud to be recognized as a Silver Medal Club for 2022!
Coming in with nearly 19,000 season points, GSCY was the highest ranked swim club in New Jersey Swimming. GSCY was one of only four swim clubs in New Jersey Swimming to be recognized, and was followed by Scarlet Aquatics (16,607 points), YMCA of Greater Monmouth County (5,447 points), and Jersey Flyers Aquatic Club (4,759 points).
GSCY was also the highest ranked YMCA swim club in the nation. With 13 YMCA teams included in the list, GSCY was followed by the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team in WI (13,586 points), Cavalier Aquatics/Piedmont Family YMCA in VA (10,527 points), and York YMCA in MA (8,080 points), to name a few.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work, grit and determination of all of our young athletes,” said Lou Petto, GSCY Head Coach and Director of Competitive Aquatics. “It is also a fitting recognition of the commitment of our coaches and staff to the development of our swimmers. I want to thank all those who play an integral role in the success of our team - from athletes to coaches to parents and volunteers. Your dedication allowed our program to flourish in a year that’s been unlike any other.”
According to USA Swimming, the Club Excellence Program “identifies and recognizes USA Swimming member clubs for its commitment to performance excellence.” USA Swimming member clubs earn points based off athlete performance scores. Each team’s ranking score is based on the FINA Points Table, a power point rating system that assigns point values to individual swimming performances based on the Gold, Silver or Bronze time standard.
