GSCY Storm Celebrates End-of-Season Banquet, Recognizes Athletes with Awards of Excellence

GSCY Storm celebrated a successful short course season during its end-of-season banquet at Forest Lodge on Sunday, April 24th.  With over 500 swimmers and guests in attendance, the team enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food, and games.  The graduating seniors were also recognized for their contributions and had a chance to share their favorite memories of GSCY.

Each practice group lead coach also took to the stage to share the successes of their respective groups, and to recognize two swimmers for the GSCY Storm Award of Excellence.  The award was presented to athletes who have demonstrated the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility throughout the short course season.

"The GSCY Award of Excellence is a new award for our team, and a very important one," said Lou Petto, Head Coach and Director of Competitive Aquatics.  "Although medals, best times, and ranking matter, our greatest pride comes from seeing our athletes grow into responsible, caring, and committed individuals.  It was great to hear our coaches talk about about the outstanding behaviors we are seeing from our swimmers in and out of the pool."
