GSCY Storm Wins 2022 YMCA National Long Course Championship!

Congratulations to the GSCY Storm Long Course National team for winning the National title!

GSCY Storm showcased terrific swims throughout the 2022 YMCA Nationals, which was held from July 19th to July 23rd at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.  With a total of 873.5 combined points, and out of 63 total teams across the country, GSCY Storm won 1st place in the overall Combined Team category.  The GSCY Storm women also took the title for the Women's category, while the men placed 8th overall. 

Going into the 5th and final evening of the meet, the Storm was in 3rd place in combined team standings, but by the end of the evening, GSCY Storm secured the overall team title, winning by over 30 points!

"I could not be prouder of our athletes and what they were able to accomplish at Nationals," said Mary Korey, Interim Head Coach. "Towards the end of the meet, as everyone was feeling fatigued from a long week of intense competition, I asked them to really dig deep not only for themselves, but for each other. The way our athletes supported one another is absolutely part of that special sauce that secured us the win."

  • 100 Breaststroke - Meghan Sharma (1:14.07)
  • 200 IM - Emily Thompson (2:16.29)
  • 50 Freestyle - Anna Moesch (new Y National record of 24.92)
  • Women 200 Medley Relay - Charlotte Holliday, Meghan Sharma, Emily Thompson, Anna Moesch (new Y National record of 1:55.88)
  • Women 200 Freestyle Relay - Emily Thompson, Caitlyn Hughes, Zoe Arakelian, Anna Moesch (new Y National record of 1:44.57) 
  • Women 400 Medley Relay - Charlotte Holliday, Meghan Sharma, Emily Thompson, Anna Moesch (4:15.44)
  • Women 400 Freestyle Relay - Emily Thompson, Colleen Bull, Caitlyn Hughes, Anna Moesch (new Y National record of 3:49.61)
  • Women 800 Freestyle Relay - Anna Moesch, Colleen Bull, Emily Thompson, Caitlyn Hughes (8:25.49)
