Coaching Staff

Maribeth Englert

Head Coach

Maribeth grew up in Western New York swimming for the YMCA and AAU. From the time she was 4 she has loved the water and being part of a team. When she moved to Los Alamos with her family, she knew it was time to utilize our awesome facility. She began swimming with the Aquatomics Masters, became Treasurer when her kids were on the team, and started coaching with the Team about 19 years ago. She took a break from the Aquatomics for a year and a half, helped coach the LAHS team, and returned to the Aquatomics in late winter of 2024. She loves this team and believes swimming can be a great conduit to important, amazing life lessons.

Maribeth swam competitively through High School, during which time she swam Chautauqua Lake (18 miles) with a dear friend before her Senior year. Maribeth and her friend held the record for the Lake swim for many years. She later took up more Open Water Swimming, becoming the 3K National Champion for her age group in 2006. She loves sharing her love for the sport with a younger generation, and hopes her swimmers become better people while becoming the best swimmers they can be!

Shannon Corey

Assistant Coach

Coach Corey started swimming when she was four years old as her older sister was on the swim team. Her mom made her take a year off when we lived in Alabama to try other things. Didn't work. Her junior year in HS her family moved back to the States from a tour in Belgium. It was at this time that she started playing water polo. As her mom said, "You can swim and you played softball, it is perfect for you!" Coach Corey ended up traveling to the US Olympic Training Center summer of her Senior year to train for the Junior National team and then playing for the University of Maryland in college.

Coaching has been something she has always loved. She started in HS under the mentorship of one of her greatest coaches. Coach Corey then moved to coaching water polo and swimming in college, coaching camps at the US Naval Academy, while coaching summer swimming. In graduate school Coach Corey was the head coach of a YMCA team in Pennsylvania. After marrying, she has coached in Maine, Germany, Ghana, and Pennsylvania. In addition to coaching Coach Corey started officiating in Ghana, and continued in Texas and New Mexico at the High School level. Last year she started to judge diving.
