Orange County Swim League (OCSL)

The Orange County Swim League is a fun, short series of swim meets for novice swimmers to try and learn about swim meets. It provides a fun, no pressure environment for swimmers in NovaIntro, Bronze, and Developmental Nova 1, 2, and 3. These meets are not designed for swimmers looking to achieve time standard goals as much as they are designed for swimmers to learn to race in a friendly, competitive environment.

The OCSL works best when swimmers commit to attend all OCSL events. Swimmers will participate in a “Time Trial” meet where they will swim short distances of all 4 strokes. After this meet, they will be divided into 2 teams, the Blue Barracudas and the Great White Sharks. A “Start, Stroke, and Turn Clinic” will then be offered where the swimmers will be divided into their teams. This clinic will not only provide lessons on technique, but a way for the swimmers to meet their teammates and coaches for the “OCSL Duel Meets” to follow.

Once the clinic has taken place, three short duel meets will be offered through the course of the summer season. The duel meets are designed to last between 2-3 hours including warm up. These short meets are meant to be fun, team-oriented, and exciting events to get the swimmers in the mind set of competition. It also helps them to learn how swim meets flow and helps them get used to heat and lane assignments and how to get to the starting blocks on time.
