Syracuse Chargers Volunteer Obligations
The Chargers relies on members to volunteer in a variety of ways to contribute to the successful running of meets and provide the best possible experience for our swimmers. We cannot do either without your help!
Families are required to work at least the following # of sessions in any of the meets in the periods listed below. The highest level swimmer in the family at registration determines the group. See additional notes below.

Notes
- Families will earn credit for their sessions worked at any Chargers-hosted meet and any other meets in a Chargers-assigned volunteer slot.
- Each session will be valued at $50, You will be charged upfront for the volunteering requirement at the beginning of each block. Once completed a session your account will be credited $50 within one week of completion.
- Sign-ups will take place on the Team Unify website/ OnDeck app in the event associated with Job Sign-up.
- Green team and all groups at the Ithaca Locations are exempt from Volunteering requirements. We still encourage you to get involved and volunteer when you can.
- New families joining after Dec 1 and Scholatic Girls are exempt from Sep-Dec session volunteering.
- New families joining after Mar 1 are exempt from Jan-Apr session volunteering.
- Volunteering opportunities vary based on meet. Possible options available:
- Timing
- Head Timer
- Meet Marshall
- Hospitality
- Runner
- Heat Winners/ Awards
- If all jobs are filled and you are still in need of your volunteer requirement please email [email protected] and we will find you a volunteering slot.
Volunteering at Other Meets
- The club has additional volunteer meet obligations which we encourage our members to assist with. Sign-ups will be available to volunteers when needed for these meets. If open positions still exist, members with swimmers participating in the meet will be assigned to work. Families will receive session credit for volunteering.
Officials and other Trained Positions
- Meets cannot be run without the help of volunteers who are specifically trained. These include swim officials, timing system operators, and running meet management software, to name a few. We highly encourage and support individuals who are willing to train and volunteer for these positions. Those who become and work as an official will be exempt from the volunteering requirement. After your first year of being an official, if you are actively officiating you will receive 50% off your entire family membership.
