Longview Metro Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Longview Metro Aquatics to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

The jotform on the New Member Information tab will help place your athlete in a group. You can also come for an in-person evaluation Fridays 4:30-5:00. If you would like to request an evaluation outside of that time, please e-mail us.

 

 

Little Leviathans

This is our learn to swim lessons, available for kids aged 3 all the way up to adults. Participants do not need to know how to swim. The class meets Monday & Wednesday from 3:45-4:15.  To join, click on team registration and sign up for Little Leviathans to participate. We have a maximum of 12 students at a time (max of 4 per instructor). Billing will continue each month until you email [email protected] 15 days in advance to suspend your account. 

Developmental Group

This is our entry-level group. The athlete needs to be able to swim independently in freestyle and backstroke for 10 yards and be able to follow instructions. This is perfect for swimmers who still need to learn freestyle breathing and simply gain strength, stamina, and skills.

Green Group

From the Developmental group, athletes move into Green group. It is similar to what other clubs call the Bronze Level. Green Group provides younger swimmers the opportunity to begin to love the sport of swimming; to develop fundamental skills in racing, including learning the four competitive strokes, streamline, starts, and turns.  Although participation in other sports and activities is normal and encouraged, swimmers are encouraged but not required, to attend a minimum 3 practices a week. The more they practice the more they will improve, but we know you’ll be there when you can. Meet availability is approximately once a month and is highly encouraged. Swimmers MUST be USA Swimming Members.

Placement into Green Group:

  • At least 6 years of age
  • Can swim 25 yards freestyle with bilateral breathing
  • Can swim 25 yards backstroke legally
  • Will begin to learn butterfly and breaststroke, streamlines, and turns
  • Eventually will begin to read and understand a pace clock

Yellow Group

From the Green group, athletes move into Yellow group. It is similar to and a combination of what other clubs call the Silver Level and Gold Level. Yellow Group continues to refine stroke technique and efficiency. The staples of the workout include longer freestyle and IM sets to enforce a strong foundation in aerobic training. Strong workout habits are taught and swimmers are expected to attend a minimum 4 workouts a week. Dryland is offered at this level. Meet availability is once a month and is highly encouraged. At least one meet every 3 months is required. Swimmers MUST be USA Swimming Members.

Placement into Yellow Group:

  • Usually 10 years of age or older.
  • Has a demonstrated on a daily basis the desire and ability to perform at a higher level.
  • Has Coaches’ recommendations
  • Can train 8x50 IM Order @ 1:10
  • Can legally complete the 200IM and the 500 Freestyle
  • Typical Standards achieved to make this group

9-10 – 3 “BB” times or 1 “A” time

11-12- 3 “B” times or 1 “BB” time

  • *9 year olds can move if they have strong attendance (4 - 5 days a week), have demonstrated on a daily basis the desire and ability to perform at a higher level and have shown maturity to work with older swimmers.

Blue Group

Blue Group is what other USA clubs often call Senior Level. Blue Group provides a rigorous regimen inclusive of continued efficient stroke technique for swimmers who have made a strong commitment to the sport of swimming. Members in this level are focused on advanced competition with goals of qualifying standards for meets such as Sectionals, Futures, and Junior National times. Attendance is mandatory. Meets are mandatory.

Placement in Blue Group:

  • Usually 13 years of age or older
  • Demonstrates on a daily basis the desire and ability to perform at a higher level
  • Coaches’ recommendations
  • Typically has multiple 13&Over “BB” times or “A” times to begin this group
  • *12 year olds must have shown the maturity to work with older swimmers and train at their intensity.

Adult Group

Any level adult that can swim across the pool unassisted. Whether you are a triathlete, former swimmer, or just wanting a healthy way to exercise or improve your strokes, our coaches can assist you in your training and helping you reach your goals.

High School

These are our local high school students swimming during a school class period. If you have a high school student wanting their school to be involved, please contact the club e-mail.
