Woodley is one of eleven charter members of the The Northern Virginia Swimming League.  NVSL was founded in 1956 to sponsor competitive swimming and diving in and among the community swimming pools in that area of Northern Virginia contiguous to the District of Columbia, and to develop in the children participating in this program -   A love for the sport, advance aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship. With 102 swim teams and 48 diving teams the league is considered one of the oldest and biggest in the country. At Woodley we strive to uphold the Standards of Conduct of the NVSL by fostering a positive environment at all swim and dive meets; establish an atmosphere of respect for all participants, officials, and spectators; produce positive learning outcomes for all; build participant and team spirit and enhance the sports of swimming and diving.

Our Woodley Warrior goals are simple:

  • To become the best swimmer(s) that we can be
  • To demonstrate good sportsmanship and team spirit
  • To reconnect with old friends and make new friends
  • To have fun!

The Competition Swim Team offers Woodley members the opportunity to compete against athletes from other Northern Virginia pools in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL).

We have swimmers who swim year round and others are summer only, our Competition Team offers lots of opportunities for swimmers of all abilities to have fun in a competitive environment.

For young swimmers who are not ready for the Competition Team, we have the Mini Warriors program.  The Mini Warriors program is designed to be a bridge between basic swim lessons and competitive training.

Please see the eligibility criteria guide to help make the best decision for your child.
