Jeff Wobser
Head Coach
USA Swimming Certified
Head Coach Jeff Wobser got his start in competitive swimming at eight years of age on the Findlay YMCA Swim team - where he learned to love the sport while being coached by then Head YMCA Coach Larry Brown. After the YMCA team, Coach Wobser moved on to the Findlay High School Swimming and Diving Team, winning three Ohio State High School championships in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Coach Wobser then attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he swam for the Volunteers for two years.
Coach Wobser started his coaching career at UT as an assistant under NCAA Championship and Olympic Coach Ray Bussard. During his four years with Coach Bussard, Coach Wobser learned the importance of teaching stroke technique and team unity to achieve competitive goals. While in Knoxville, Coach Wobser was also the Head Senior Coach of Pilot Aquatic Club (now Tennessee Aquatics) and Head Coach of the Sevierville Swim Team.
After graduation, Coach Wobser joined Marathon Petroleum Company LP, where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 2020. In 2001, he accepted a transfer back to his hometown and, shortly after, accepted the Head Coaching position at Findlay High School. Coach Wobser was the Head Coach through 2012 and has been an assistant coach for the Trojans ever since. He became the Head Coach of the Findlay YMCA Frogs in 2024.
“Competitive swimming has been my lifelong passion. Coaching at Findlay has allowed me to give back to the sport and city that gave me so much when I was growing up.”
Outside of the pool, Coach Wobser is a Findlay City Councilman-at-Large and has been in that position since 2015.
Heather Chan
Assitant Coach
USA Swimming Certified
Coach Heather was a competitive swimmer for 13 years, from 4th grade through collegiate swimming for the University of Findlay. She has always been around the pool deck, serving as a lifeguard, swim instructor and pool manager during high school and college. Coach Heather joined the Frogs coaching staff in 2022, shortly after her two boys began swimming with the team.
Heather also works at Marathon Petroleum in the Corporate Health, Environmental, Safety, Security and Product Quality group. When not swimming, coaching or working, she enjoys hiking, cooking and building LEGO with her husband and boys.
Coach Heather likes swimming breaststroke, the IM, and distance freestyle. One of her favorite things about swimming is how impactful it is in all aspects of life – from physical and mental health, to improved math, rhythm and social skills (we swimmers have a unique bond for sure!), to an improved ability to set and achieve goals.
