USA Swimming Safe Sport
Although FYF has a USA Swimming component to our swim team, all YMCA swim programs adhere to USA Swimming techinical rules and therefore the USA Swimming Safe Sport initiative is applicable to all of our swimmers. Safe Sport is a comprehensive abuse prevention program focused on creating a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for athletes. This involves multiple layers of protection, including mandatory background checks, safety training for adults, policies to prevent and report abuse, and the implementation of the U.S. Center for SafeSport's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).

One-On-One Interactions
We take caution to avoid/limit one-one-on adult and minor interactions. However, the following consent forms allow us to be prepared in the event that one does need to occur.
An adult participant is defined as, any adult 18 years of age or older who is a:
- USA Swimming member, either athlete or non-athlete
- Participating non-member (e.g., meet marshals, meet computer operators, timers, etc.)
- Authorized, approved or appointed by USA Swimming, Zones, Local Swimming Committees (“LSCs”) or member clubs to have Regular Contact with (e.g., ongoing interactions during a 12- month period wherein the individual is in a role of active engagement) or authority over minor athletes; and/or
- Within the governance or disciplinary jurisdiction of USA Swimming, Zones, LSCs or member clubs.
One remains an “Adult Participant” for as long as one of those conditions is met. For instance, a parent that is a USA Swimming official is an “Adult Participant” for as long as they maintain their USA Swimming membership, while a parent that is volunteering as a timer remains an “Adult Participant” for that session/meet in which they are volunteering.
Consent Forms:
Massage and other manual therapy
In-program Lodging Close-in-Age Exception
There are times when a Minor Athlete and an Adult Participant have a relationship that exists outside of a sport relationship. Examples of dual relationships include but are not limited to family members, family friends, and teachers. A dual relationship consent form may be utilized to cover all scenarios, otherwise individual consent forms should be utilized to cover specific scenarios.
