GCY LONG COURSE SINGLE-DAY SPLASH 2025 (4/5/25)

competed in a long course meet hosted by the Greensboro YMCA. Thomas had a PB Sweep in all three of his events and Alec swam two PBs and set a new team record in the 15-18 Boys 50 Yard Free in a time of 25.47.
2025 YMCA SHORT COURSE NATIONALS AND TIME TRIALS (3/31-4/4/25)
Thomas Naylor and Alec Tseng competed at YMCA Nationals and participated in the Time Trials meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Thomas set a team record in the 15-18 Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley in a time of 2:01.31 and swam PBs in the 100 Free and 100 Breast.
2025 CENTRAL ZONE EAST SPRING SPEEDO SECTIONALS (3/27-3/30/25)
Thomas Naylor and Alec Tseng competed at Sectionals in Indianapolis. Thomas swam 3 PBs and set a team record in the 15 & Over Boys 200 Meter Individual Medley.
2025 GREAT LAKES ZONES CHAMPIONSHIP (3/14-3/16/25)
CONGRATULATIONS ZONE TEAM on your 11th Place team finish (out of 73 teams from Ohio, MIchigan, Kentucky, West Virginia and Indiana) at Zones this weekend at Bowling Green State University!
The Penguin boys finished FIFTH overall and the Penguin girls finished 18th. In the Age Group standings, the 13-14 Boys and the 15 & Over Boys placed THIRD.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- The team swam 35 PBs and PB leaders were Thomas Naylor with 7 PBs and Abigail Norcia with 6 PBs. Anderson Adams, Lilly Ogden and Aiden Zhang PB’d in both of their individual bonus events at Zones!
- Thomas Naylor was the leading scorer for the Penguins with 137 points. He also set team records in the 13-14 Boys 200 IM, 400 IM, 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 50 Breast and 100 Breast.
- Abigail Norcia and Kylie Turner broke 30 seconds in their 50 Free Relay lead-off.
- The team did not have any DQs!!

2025 SC JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP (3/6-3/9/25)
Five Penguin swimmers competed at the Mason Municipal Aquatic Center in the Ohio State meet and swam 11 PBs. Alivia Buschur swam a PB in all six (6) of her 10 & Under Girls events and placed Top 16 iin each of them. Toby Naylor swam two (2) PBs and placed Top 16 in the 10 & Under Boys 100 Free. Nico Brayer also swam two (2) PBs, Jack Terry broke 28 seconds in his 50 Free and Brady Brayer was our team's youngest State qualifier in the 10 & Under Boys 100 Breast.
2025 YCO WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP (3/1-3/2/25)
CONGRATULATIONS! The Penguins won their 14th consecutive Winter Champs at Ohio University. The weekend was full of highlights and the team swam 258 PBs! The PB leaders over two days with a 6 PB Sweep were Rohan Hegde, Jake Lickfelt, Emily Odum and Harper Quinn. Ryan Zhu PB’d six of his 8 events over the weekend. Five (5) PBs were earned by Annie Eizenberg, Callie Gilmore, Maggie Green, Thomas Naylor, Liam Ryan and Rachel Weglarz. Lillian Turner was the PB leader on a single day with a 4 PB Sweep on Saturday. Swimmers with a 3 PB Sweep on either Saturday or Sunday were Clayton Chak, Cabalina Crooks, Evni Don Gajanayakege, Konstantin Edsall, Maggie Herbst, Alyn Jiang, Ben Linley, James Long, Caroline Lytle, Elliot Nist, Abigail Norcia, Luis Pesantes, Abby Thian, Mona Vanukuri, Rudy Vicetti and Gavin Yates.
Thomas Naylor set seven (7) team records over the weekend: 13-14 Boys 200 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 Breast, 200 IM and 50 Free.
The most exciting event of the weekend was the 11-12 Girls 200 Free Relay (Sophie Hoffis, Kylie Turner, Callie Gilmore, Annie Eizenberg). They qualified for Zones and finished first.

If a swimmer received a higher place award than they should have after the meet corrections, we are not changing it. If a swimmer placed higher after the event/times were corrected, the League will provide the correct awards. Penguin swimmers will receive their awards and PBs at the swim team banquet. Unfortunately, we were unable to correct the Meet Mobile results that were crazy wonky!
2025 OH BSC SC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (2/21-2/23/25)
A small crew of 19 Penguin swimmers competed at Ohio University over the weekend with impressive performances and 72 PBs! The PB leaders were Sophie Hoffis
and Rachel Weglarz with 8 PBs. Noah Buschur and Abigail Norcia swam 7 PBs, and Declan Fortney and Alex Hemsworth swam 6 PBs. Harper Johnston had a PB Sweep on Saturday.
Meet Highlights:
- Brady Brayer was the lone First Place Medalist in the 10 & Under Boys 100 Breast and qualified for YMCA Zones and the Ohio SC Junior Championship.
- Second Place Medalists were Nico Brayer in the 10 & Under Boys 100 Back, and Toby Naylor in the 10 & Under Boys 100 IM, 50 Back and 50 Fly. Toby achieved a Ohio SC Junior Championship time standard in the IM.
- Third Place Medalists were Jack Terry in the 11-12 Boys 100 IM and 50 Back. Jack qualified for the Ohio SC Junior Championship in the 50 Free.

KELLY GERMAN MEMORIAL MEET (1/4-1/5/25)
The Penguins had a strong showing in Worthington over the weekend. The team swam 55 PBs and the PB leaders were Aiden Zhang (10 PBs), Noah Buschur and Lindsay Gale (6 PBs), Alivia Buschur, Sophie Hoffsis and Abigail Norcia (4 PBs).
Jack Terry earned his first Zone time this season in the 11-12 Boys 50 Breaststroke and Lindsay Gale also swam a Zone time in the 13-14 Girls 100 Fly. Alivia Buschur earned another Zone time in the 10 & Under Girls 100 Free.
Abigail Norcia was the lone First place finisher for the Penguins in the 9-10 Girls 50 Fly and her teammate Alivia Buschur took second in the event. Other top six finishers in the 9-10 session were Alivia Buschur, 4th in the 100 Free and 6th in the 100 IM and 50 Back; Abigail Norcia, 2nd in the 100 Free and 4th in the 50 Back and 50 Free; and Miles Wermert, 5th in the 50 Breast.
The Top finisher during Finals for ages 11-14 was Drew Malouf, 2nd in the 13-14 Boys 200 IM. He also placed 5th in the 100 Breast. Other notable finishers at Finals were Aiden Zhang, 3rd in the 13-14 Boys 200 IM, 100 Fly and 100 Back; Lindsay Gale, 4th in the 13-14 Girls 100 Back and 5th in the 13-14 Girls 100 Fly. Congratulations to Thomas Naylor for being selected to compete for Team Ohio in Indianapolis. He also had the honor to be chosen as the flag bearer. Team Ohio competed against Team Indiana, Team Michigan, Team Minnesota, Kentucky and Team Wisconsion. Thomas competed in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, and the 13-14 Boys 200 Free Relay. He swam a personal best time in the 100 Breast in a time of 1:00.82 and has qualified for Y Nationals and Sectionals.

The Penguin high school swimmers swam 43 PBs at Bowling Green State University over the weekend. The PB leaders were Maddox Beierle and Chloe Welsh with 8 PBs, Thomas Naylor swam 7 PBs and Emily Wolfe swam 6 PBs.

The Top Penguin finishers were Maddox Beierle, placing 4th in the 100 Free and Abigail Norcia, finishing 4th in the 100 Fly.

The Penguins swam 72 PBs in the Hilliard Fall Squall on Saturday. All our new team members who swam in their first meet of the season swam well and especially all those swimmers who have been practicing for less than a week!
The PB leaders were Keshav Kannepalli and Aiden Zhang with a 4 PB Sweep. Nolan Davison, Andrew Helder, Drew Malouf, Reyansh Saraf, Aanya Sarawgi and Timmy Wolfrum had a 3 PB Sweep.
