Three OSDC Members to Continue Diving in College

 

Three Ohio State Diving Club seniors, Allie Alter, Alex Clay, and Hunter Atha, signed letters of intent to continue their diving careers at Louisiana State University, Stanford University, and the University of Wisconsin, respectively.

Alter, a senior at New Albany High School, will attend Louisiana State University. She is a seven-time Junior National finalist who has been diving on a national level since age seven. Alter qualified for the Olympic Trials in the synchronized platform event with Ohio State Diving Club teammate Andrea Acquista.

"Allie has a proven record of success on the Junior National level," LSU Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. "Allie brings a wealth of talent and experience and will make an immediate impact." 

Clay, a senior at Olentangy Liberty High School, has signed with Stanford University. She began diving in high school after a successful gymnastics career. Clay qualified for Junior Nationals in 2011 in the three-meter and is the reigning Ohio High School District I champion. She also placed 22nd at the 2011 Division I Ohio High School State Diving Championships.

Hunter Atha, a senior at Worthington Kilbourne High School, will attend theUniversity of Wisconsin. Atha qualified for 2011 Age Group Nationals in the three-meter and placed 11th in the three-meter synchronized event at JuniorNationals with Ohio State Diving Club teammate Alex Kowal. In addition, he placed ninth at the 2011 Division I Ohio High School State Diving Championships. 

“I am very proud of our three graduating seniors. Their hard work at both school and diving practice has brought them to another exciting chapter of their lives,” said Justin Sochor, head coach, Ohio State Diving Club. “Stanford, Louisiana, and Wisconsin are lucky to have these athletes as part of their incoming freshman class. I wish them all great successes in this exciting adventure!”
