Ball Named to Elite Eight

The accolades continue to roll in for the Office of Student Life's Ohio State Diving Club within the Department of Recreational Sports.

Sophomore Olivia Ball (Olentangy Liberty High School, Powell) was named as an Elite Eight diver by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) Diving All American Selection Committee. Olivia's Elite Eight status rounds out a stellar year including her strong finishes at the 2012 Junior Pan American Games, Olympic Trials, and being selected as one of six All-Americans on the Ohio State Diving Club.

Ball is one of only two sophomores included on the Elite Eight roster nationwide.

“Olivia’s hard work has paid off tremendously,” said Ohio State Diving Club Head Coach Justin Sochor. “We are proud of her accomplishments and can’t wait to see where next year leads her.”

To become eligible for Elite Eight consideration, divers first must be named an All American by NISCA. Judges look at how competitive their meets were, where they competed, and view a DVD compilation of their dives.

Congratulations Olivia!
