Ohio State Diving Club takes team title as Junior Nationals come to a close

MINNEAPOLIS – The 2013 USA Diving Junior National Championships came to a close Saturday with Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind.), Olivia Rosendahl (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Sine Scribbick (San Antonio, Texas) winning the final three individual titles awarded.

The Ohio State Diving Club won the overall team title for the second year in a row and also won the boys team title. GC Diving finished second in the overall team standings and took home the girls team title. The Trojan Dive Club was third in the overall team standings, followed by the Mission Viejo Nadadores and Longhorn Aquatics.

Johnson, of the Boiler Diving Academy, scored 716.60 points to win the boys 16-18 platform title a day after winning the 3-meter title. David Dinsmore (New Albany, Ohio), who scored straight 10s on his back 3 ½ tuck, finished second with 691.35 points and Dashiell Enos (Studio City, Calif.) took third at 594.25.

Scribbick, who competes for San Antonio Divers, edged fellow Texan Alison Gibson (Austin, Texas) for gold in the 14-15 girls 3-meter contest with 368.50 points. Gibson finished second at 362.65, with Brooke Schultz(Fayetteville, Ark.) scoring 351.65 points for bronze.

The Trojan Dive Club’s Rosendahl won the girls 16-18 1-meter title with 420.20, while Anna Filipcic (Omaha, Neb.) scored 407.60 point for silver. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick (Darien, Conn.) picked up the bronze with 405.30 points.

The championships also will be used to select Team USA for the Junior Pan Am Diving Championships, which will be held September 26-29 in Tucson, Ariz.
