Pre-Competitive:  Pre-comp is a perfect group for swimmers that are just starting to learn about competitive swimming. An ability to swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke is preferred. In our pre-competitive group swimmers develop the basics of competitive swimming. Streamline from the wall. Competition freestyle and backstroke focussing on swimming posture, breathing, and stroke rhythm. Breaststroke is developed, focusing on kick and rhythm. Swimmers prepare for the butterfly by developing the rhythm and propulsion of the dolphin kick. Competitive skills in starts, turns, set swimming, and racing are emerging.

Novice: This is the next group after the pre-competitive Novice. In this group, swimmers learn competitive swim techniques for competition swimming. Conditioning is introduced. Swimmers are ready to compete in freestyle and backstroke in the novice group. Full stroke breaststroke is a focus on preparing these young swimmers for racing. The butterfly stroke is developed focussing on breath, rhythm, and a one-arm swim. Developing competitive skills in starts, turns, set swimming, and racing continues.

Juniors: This group will continue to perfect their strokes and proper technique. They will also begin to learn the rules of swimming and develop an understanding of aerobic conditioning. Stroke perfection will be a big focus of this group.

Seniors: This group is for advanced swimmers.  This group will focus on aerobic training, anaerobic training, stroke mechanics, dry-land training, and race preparation.  This group is structured to allow each athlete to reach their full potential. Senior swimmers who are 18 years old or older are required to complete USA Swimming's Safe Sport Requirements (Athlete Protection Training and Background Check) to be in good standing with USA Swimming.

Adult: The KWSC Adult Athlete Program is on hold. Intended for adult swimmers no longer interested in the more intense training of senior preparation. Meets and open water swims are encouraged. Focus is on developing and maintaining aerobic conditioning, improving stroke technique, and reaching personal goals. Adult athletes are required to complete USA Swimming's Safe Sport Requirements (Athlete Protection Training and Background Check) to be in good standing with USA Swimming.
