AAA Meet Summary 10/28 & 10/29

Anna Gainey-Vejar

CDST swam at the AAA Swim Meet in Albany on October 28th & 29th.  Overall, Swimmers did very well, and there were less DQ slips at the Meet.  This is showing that swimmers have been working hard at cleaning up the details in their daily practice habits, and competitive races skills.

For CDST Girl Swimmers: 8 & Under Swimmers did very well in all their events.  A special recognition to Ella Zu for placing 1st in all her events for the Meet.  Vanessa Kuo also achieved some personal best times in 9-10 Girls 50 Free (new AA), 100 Free, 50 Back (new AA), 100 Back (new AAA), 50 Fly (new AAA).  11-12 Girls had many races that stood out, including Dhivashree Kesavan’s 200 Back (new AAA), 100 Fly (new AA).  Swimmers also swam the 500 Free at this Meet, and 11-12 Girl Grace Gao dropped over a minute in her 500 Free (new BB).

For CDST Boy Swimmers: 8 & Under Swimmer Charles Liu Bates achieved best times in 25 Free, and 100 IM.  Our 9-10 Boys dominated their events as well.  A special recognition to Jayden Lee for achieving 1st place in the 50 Back (new A), and 100 Back (new A).  Also new 9-10 swimmer Ethen Fadillah achieved a best time in 50 Breast (new BB).  Max Wang swam a best time in the 50 Fly (new AA), and 100 Fly (new AA).  11-12 Boys also had many great swims, including new Swimmer Asher Song who placed well and achieved best times in 50 Free (new A), & 100 Fly (new A).

Swimmers are really thriving in their events and showing strength in their abilities to be leaders in the pool.  Keep working hard and remember our goal is to foster a safe and fun space to learn competitive swimming: Skills, Teamwork, Knowledge, Motivation, Character, Conditioning, and Attitude.  We would also like to emphasize the importance of good communication, sportsmanship, thinking positively about goals, and keeping an open mind about learning & constructive criticisms.  Just a few reminders of the basic swim practice rules: 1)  Please keep your hands and feet to yourself.  2)  If you have nothing nice to say, then please say nothing at all.  3)  Always try your best!  Every stroke, every turn, every swim set, every practice!
