CDST's First Appearance at Winter Junior National

Last week, Edward Huang and Coach Chen traveled to the WInter Junior National at Austin, Texas. It was the first CDST has swimmer and coach to participate in the Winter Junior National, and this was Edward's first appearance in the national level meet. His outstanding performance made him advance to the Junior National Finals for the first time! What an accomplishment for him and CDST!

On Friday, December 10th, at Man 100 Yard Backstroke Preliminary, Edward Huang posted a stunning time, 48.83, dropped 1.13 seconds from his entry time. His new best time placed 17th at the Preliminary and advanced to the Finals on that night. The final time was 49.16, which didn't beat the morning time, but still made him reach the Summer Junior National Cut, placed in Top 20, and Edward was learning and experiencing great excitement from the national level finals. He also raced very well in his bonus event, 200 Back, with a time of 1:52.64. Less than a second off from his best time.

Edward Huang joined CDST in 2014. He started at Silver group, and in early 2018, he joined Elite Group with Coach Chen. He first got the cut at the beginning of October 2021. Despite the pool closures and changes during the COVID time, he kept working hard and had an outstanding performance at Junior Nationals. Please congratulate him when you see him on the pool deck!
