2022 Summer Junior Olympics

CDST competed in the Pacific Swimming 14 & Under LCM Junior Olympics in Hollister, Ca on 7/8-7/10/2022. We had 7 athletes who participated in 24 events and 12 relay races. I am happy CDST swimmers showcased their enthusiasm, displayed exceptional focus, and arrived prepared to preform. Every student-athlete did a fabulous job at communicating their heat and lane assignments, while being responsible at completing warm up and warm downs. I would like to give a big shout out to Eric Meng, Dhivashree Kesavan, Sophia Gallagher for making finals for multiple events. Great Job Swimmers!

 

The ten and under swimmers had a blast racing, fun socializing and acquired experience for future team relays. Great job Andy Bi, Jayden Lee, Matthew Chang, William Xu, Dhivashree Kesavan, Grace Gao, Ada Xin, and  Vanessa Kuo keep up the great work.

 

The 11/12 swimmers did an awesome job competing as a team and will continue to improve each and every relay as confidence and timing improve. Great job Yongjian Zhang, Carston Hambail, Arjav Mullick, Victor Wei, Sophia Gallagher, Keya Musku, Aarohi Verma, and Vivian Chen. I can’t wait to see future relays.

 

The 13/14 swimmers Eric Meng, Kevin Liu, Meddy Ben Ayed, Phillip Lu, Jennifer Xu, Natalie Lim, Jiya Bharti, and Rhea Nayagam did a great job of representing CDST. You had amazing swims.

 

10 and Under Girls

 

Dhivashree Kesavan,

            200 IM seed of 3:27.78 and finishing Prelims in13th place with a 3:12.88.

                   100 Breast seed time of 1:39.70 and finishing Prelims at 1:39.02 making her the only 9 year old to make finals. Dhivashree finished finals in 8th place, great job.

            50 Breast seed time of 47.18 and finished at 46.06 scoring her the 9th place and alternate for finals.

 

11 and 12 Girls

 

Sophia Gallagher,

         The 100 Back Sophia fished 4th at Prelims with 1:19.58 making Finals and finishing 4th overall with 1:18.62.

        In the 50 Free Sophia finished 20th overall.

        In 50 fly she finished 15th with a 36.79.

        In the 50 Back entering Prelims with a seed time of 37.92 placing her in 7th with a 37.33. At Finals Sophia placed 4th overall and dropping her time to 35.95.

        100 free tied for 11th place with a 1:11.28.

 

13 and 14 Girls

 

Jennifer Xu, Competed in the 50 Free and finished 32nd overall with a 30.85.

 

11 and 12 Boys

 

Yongjian Zhang,

        In the 50 Free fished 44th with a 31.58.

        Yongjian’s 50 Fly finished 28th with a 35.03.

        In the 100 Free fished with a 1:14.00 41st place.

 

Carston Hambail,

         In the 200 IM Carston finished 36th with a 2:51.71.

         His 50 Free seed time was 32.00 and fished 20th of 47 with a 30.01

         Carston’s 50 Back finished 16 with a 36.73

 

13 and 14 Boys         

 

Kevin Liu,

                His 50 Free Kevin finished in 33rd place with a 28.46 at prelims.

                In the 100 Breast with a seed time of a 1:07.27Y and finished prelims at 1:20.73 for 16th place.

 

Eric Meng,

        His 200 IM seed was 2:26.96 and Eric finished prelims with a 2:21.73 making finals. He finished 8th overall with 2:22.78 at finals.

        In the 100 Back with a seed time of 1:08.29 and finishing prelims with a 1:05.92 making finals. Eric finished finals in 6th 1:06.42.

        The 50 Free seed time was 27.29 after prelims Eric swam a 26.75 for 11th place.

        200 Free entered with a 2:12.57 and finished 2:08.85 in 11th place.

        The 100 Free seed time was 59.38 and swam a 58.29 in prelims finishing 13th.

        In the 200 Back Eric’s seed time was a 2:25.35 after prelims he dropped to 2:23.20 and placed 4th. In finals he finished 4th 2:22.11

        In the 100 Fly he finished prelims in 19th with a 1:04.88.

 

Great Job to all the swimmers who competed and I hope this drives the desire to achieve success in swimming. With every falter and success we build a road map to achieve great things and I believe you are all on your way. Keep up the hard work.
