CROW_14 & Under Last Chance JOs Meet Summary_11/19-20/22

Anna Gainey-Vejar

On November 19th and 20th, CDST attended the 14 & Under Last Chance JO Swim Meet, hosted by CROW in San Ramon.  Swimmers had their last chance to make JO time standards at this Meet.  Many swimmers made best times, & made the cut to qualify for the 14 & Under Winter Championship, previously known as Winter Junior Olympics.  There were lots of things to learn & points to earn at this Meet.  All 14 & under swimmers represented CDST in a great way during warm-up/ cool-down, dives, & individual events.  One thing everyone could benefit from is knowing how to be in the moment & race your race.  Swimmers should stay focused on the overall goals, & take each step to achieve those wanted results.  Overall, CDST swimmers exhibited a strong drive to earn personal records, & proved that they could dig hard & drop time in their events.

From Coach Felice:

Hello CDST Family,

I want to thank all the parents who came out to help at the Meet. I'd like to also give a shout out to the older swimmers who helped make sure younger swimmers came to see me for their splits & advice/ feedback.  I am proud of how you all carried yourselves at the meet inside and outside the pool & represented CDST as a team.  Upon watching the performances of our swimmers from various age groups, I noticed many swimmers were frustrated from their swims. Whether it was frustration from not achieving a personal best, not making a JO time cut, or from having an off-day in general, many swimmers were quite self-critical of their times and/or performances. To be able to improve & move forward, my advice is to brush off the unwanted results. Reflect & analyze on what could be refined & done better, & use that to fuel yourselves in being better for future events. There will be struggles along the way, but what matters most is how you face those struggles & use it to your strengths.  With that said, here are some individual highlights from each age group. Congratulations to swimmers who earned an A Time or an additional Winter Junior Championships cut!  Also, congratulations to those who dropped a lot of time on their events!
