SRVA C/B/BB+ Meet Summary

Anna Gainey-Vejar

Greetings Swimmers & Families,

December 10th & 11th, CDST competed at one of the biggest swim meets we’ve attended so far this Season, the SRVA C/B/BB+ Meet in San Ramon.  Despite the weather, attendance was up, & swimmers were determined to show that the rain down pours, wind, & cold temperatures wouldn't stop them from reaching their personal goals.  Swimmers exhibited mental toughness in their efforts both in & out of the water.  In fact, the whole Team was challenged not only by the unfavorable swimming weather, but also to be their best selves.  Remember as we grow & go to bigger Swim Meets, we must as a Team continue to hold ourselves to a high standard in all manners.  As we become more known & have more swimmers raising their standards, others are noticing all that we do, so please always be a role model & represent CDST to the best of your abilities.  Overall, our spirits were high, & many swimmers showed some of their best swimming thus far.  Continue to work on your efforts to reach your personal goals, & remember the little successes & steps to reaching those goals along the way are really a place of positive growth & resilience.

From Coach Ian:

Hello Parents & Swimmers,

The SRVA swim meet was a great opportunity for students to drop time, gain experience in racing when the weather is not ideal, and how supporting each other makes a huge difference. I am happy to see so many students participating wholeheartedly.  In the future when it is cold, wet, & a long day of racing, we must be more prepared.  I saw many students not wearing enough warm clothing, footwear or had enough towels.  If our body is spending time & energy to generate heat, we as athletes cannot perform at our optimal condition, even if we have the mindset.  For all Swimmers who received a DQ slip, remember that it happens, but it is our choice to allow negative practice habits to continue.  When your coach tells you that, “You will be DQ’d for that at practice," do your best to work on it.  If you are unsure, ask questions.  We are here to help you.  I saw many great races over the weekend, & we're on the right track for having great swims at the Zone Two Championships.  The team did a great job at warm ups over the two-day meet.  Be sure to keep up the hard work at practice & have fun at swim meets!  Great job everyone, & have a wonderful Holiday break.

From Coach Felice:

Hello CDST Family!

This past weekend CDST had over 90 swimmers signed up for the SRVA C/B/A meet in San Ramon.  Although the weather conditions were not ideal, overall we showed great improvement & cohesion as a team.  To those who were unable to swim because you were sick, please know all Coaches hope you get better soon!  This was quite a big meet for some swimmers when looking at how many people were competing & how big the competition pool was.  For the swimmers whose first meet this was, give yourself a pat on the back for putting yourself out there & getting immersed into the sport through competing.  To the seasoned swimmers, give yourself credit as well & be proud of your results, whether it was by reaching new personal bests or executing a technique that you had been struggling with.   Even to those who may have not swum as well as you'd have liked, understand it is a part of learning & growing as a swimmer, & that you can talk to your coaches about it.  Keep up the great work CDST! Let's continue to strive to be better, faster, & stronger for ourselves & as a team!
