2023 Spring Far Western Championships
CDST had one of the best Spring Far Western Championships at the beginning of April. We have sent 13 swimmers and four relay teams to the meet. Many are first-time participants in the Far Western Championships, the highest age group meet.
CDST's young age groupers posted very fast times and scored many points at the meet. Dhivashree Kesavan made the finals in all her seven individual events and scored 29.5 points at the finals. Sophia Gallagher also made four finals and placed 2nd in the 100 Backstroke. Andy Bi & Vanessa Kuo advanced to finals on their long events, 500 Free, as first-time participants in the Far Western Championships—a very impressive achievement for them.
Our Senior Level swimmers did well even without much rest preparation for this meet. All 50 freestyle races were close to the best times or season best. Edward Huang broke the 7-year-old 100 Backstroke Championship Record with a new record time of 48.30 for the 17-18 age group. Eric Meng received his first Sectional Cut in 400 IM at this meet.
CDST's Relay team was formed by our 10 & Unders. All of them are for the first time at the Far Western. As a learning experience, they all did well and learned the gaps with other faster club teams. They will work together to chase others in the next Far Western Champs.
