Bremerton Y's Avery wins regional title

Bremerton YMCA's Leah Avery won the 200-yard individual medley at the Boise (Idaho) Regionals last week.

It's the first meet for the Bremerton and Silverdale YMCA's, which established club swimming in January.

Avery won the title in the 13-14 age division in 2 minutes, 23.87 seconds. She also placed top six in four other events. Other highlights include Sarah Avery, who was second in the 400 IM in 4:58.62; LianeHirata (Central Kitsap), third in 100 back in 1:03.38. Bremerton's four relays also placed no worse than eighth.
