Recreation 2024-25 

Our Recreation program offers swimmers an opportunity to improve their technique and conditioning while learning the fundamental skills of competitive swimming. Recreation Team swimmers have the option to compete and the flexibility to progress at their own pace. The Recreation program runs from September through June and feeds into our Summer Swim Team.

PRACTICE GROUPS:

Rec 2/3 (Starting March 3)

Registration Open Feb 15 (Click Here)

Age: 11 +

Monthly Training Fees Rec 2/3: $160

Registration Fee: $50

Expectations:

Rec 2/3 is for swimmers who are looking to continue to train at a lower commitment level than our competitive team (Age Group). Practices will be more intense than Rec 1. Swimmers will work on improving their technique in all the strokes, know intervals, swim 100 I.M, leave at set times, and to swim more effectively and efficiently. Swimmers may be able to compete at meets if able to meet qualifications.

 

Minimum standards:

  • Swim 50’s of legal freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, 25 butterfly, 
  • Kick 100’s of streamline flutter kick on their back/front and ability to read a clock.
  • Expected to attend practices as scheduled.

After filling out the questionnaire form, those selected will be contacted via email to complete registration pending space availability. 

 

Registration is by invite only if you have not received an invite please do not completed the registration as registration fees are nonrefundable.

 

Recreation Group Waitlist

If groups are at capacity, you will automatically be placed onto our waitlist depending on when your application was completed. WEST will contact you via email when a spot has become available for your swimmer. WEST must receive a response within 24 hours or will move on to the next swimmer on the waitlist. 


Time on the waitlist can fluctuate throughout the year and we understand if families must seek other options. If you do not wish to remain on the waitlist, you can email [email protected].

 

 

 

Rec 1

Age: 10 & Under

Monthly Training Fees Rec 1 A & B: $160

Monthly Training Fees Rec 1 W: $125

Expectations:

Rec 1 is for swimmers who are looking to continue to train at a lower commitment level than our competitive team. At practice swimmers will learn butterfly, flip turns, open turns, stroke legality, I.M. order and to effectively read a clock, as well as general. Also to improve technique improvements in all the strokes. Swimmers may be able to compete at meets if able to meet qualifications.

 

Minimum standards:

  • Swim 25’s of freestyle, backstroke, legal breaststroke 
  • Kick 50’s of streamline flutter kick on their back/front.
  • Expected to attend practices as scheduled.

Age: 13&Over

Expectations:

The Rec group 3 will be for 13&Over swimmers who are also looking to train at a lower commitment level than our competitive team (Junior & Senior) and intend to prepare for high school swimming. Practices will be more intense than Rec 2. Swimmers will be working on improving their endurance and technique at a higher level than the Rec 2 group and focusing on swimming more yardage proficiently to improve speed.

Swimmers may be able to compete at meets if able to meet qualifications.

 

Minimum standards:

  • Swim 50’s of legal freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly
  • Swim a legal 100 I.M
  • Understand intervals training and can leave at set times. 
  • Expected to attend practices as scheduled.
