Group Mom v Team Mom
Historically WEST has had Group Moms. I have been thinking that we would make a more cohesive unit as Team Moms. Everyone agreed (even Phil!). We will all work together to coordinate all-team events and individual group events.

Winter Gathering
This was the biggest issue of the evening. Given that both of the weekends of winter break are holiday weekends, and the three weekends leading up to the winter break are meet weekends, we determined that the evening of Monday, December 19 would be the best.

This would be a pot-luck gathering. We have always had a successful turnout of food for our potlucks, so why change something that isn't broke! Details to be determined at our next meeting.

We tossed around ideas for a location. I have contacted Melinda Coglas & Charmen Sewell asking them to find out if their church would be willing to open a hall for us. I have also sent a message to Gold Creek Church to see if they have a space we can use. Phil Carpenter will check with the local Boys & Girls Club. If anyone has any other ideas, please put out the feelers.

We were quite successful a couple of years ago with a gift basket raffle and decided that this would be a great repeat and put a few dollars in the WEST coffers. Each ticket was a $1 donation. Each group (2 for Explorer) would be responsible for putting together one basket. If you have a strong feeling about the theme for a basket, let me know so we can start putting a list together. In 2009 we had the following themes (we can reuse these, or create some new ones):
       Movie Night
       Book Lover's
       Wine Lover's
       Candy Tree
       Coffee, Cocoa & Chocolate
       Sundae Night

Winter Break Practices
Nick/Sam will most likely schedule several doubles for Challenge1/2 and Accelerate during the break. Nick would like to provide post-practice breakfast snacks for these swimmers. Those of us with swimmers in these groups will pull together with other parents to fulfill this request to the best of our ability. Break practice schedule forthcoming.

Pam will be hosting a breakfast for the Accelerate swimmers. We will also be organizing a post-am-practice meal for all of the senior swimmers.

Pam recommended Ice Pops as a special (inexpensive) treat for the entire team a few times during the break. All agreed this was a great idea. I believe I have seen these at Costco in a large box.

Team Building Events
We tossed around a few ideas for a team-building event: ice skating (Comcast Arena in Everett), roller skating (Skate Deck in Everett), and a trampoline place (Sky High in Bellevue). I personally like the trampoline place because we can rent a space for just our group. We can schedule these pretty much anytime over the year.

We also discussed tubing at Snoqualmie Summit. This has been a very fun and popular outing, but has traditionally been held on Super Bowl Sunday. This year the February Challenge is in Port Angeles on Super Bowl Weekend. So, here are a few other weekend options for tubing: Jan 28 or 29, or Feb 11 or 12. We don't want to go too much later or the snow will be slushy. The first session (9-11am) is the least expensive and is the session we've made in the past. In the past, many of us have gotten together afterwards for lunch at a Red Robin in Issaquah.
