WEST Weekly

Dear Swimmers, Parents and Club Members,

This week WEST swim team is on break and will return to practice Wednesday, April 11th.

As most of you have heard by now, Coach Sam will not be returning to WEST next season. His fiancé has taken a great new job with the University of Wyoming. Although we are all very sad to see Sam go, this is a great opportunity for both him and Ange and we wish them the best of luck as they move towards building a life together, getting married later this summer.

We've been searching for coach candidates and have made a decision. Ken Rice, formally coaching Evergreen Swim Club, South Sound Masters Swimmers, and Olympia High School will be joining WEST starting in May when he is done coaching the PNA Masters and competing at Nationals.

Also, Rachel will begin coaching with us as well. She has been very interested in getting more involved with WEST and swam growing up and into college.

Group Move-Ups and Schedule Change

Several swimmers will be moving up, effective when we return to practice on Wednesday April 11th. We will be combining Challenge 1 and 2 as the skill level of each group is very similar and given they already practice together often. The new group rosters can be found at the bottom of this email.

Accelerate: Monday-Thursday 3:30-6:30pm, Friday 3:30-6pm, Saturday 6:30-9am
Challenge: Monday-Thursday 6-8:30pm, Friday 3:30-6pm, Saturday 6:30-9am
Discover: Mon & Wed OR Tues & Thurs 6:45-8:30pm, Fri 7-8:30, Sat 9-10:30am
Explore: Mon & Wed OR Tues & Thurs 5:45-7pm, Fri 6-7pm, Sat 9-10:30am

Morning Practices (Mandatory for Accelerate, Optional for Challenge): Wed & Fri 5-6:30am

Attention Discover & Explore: please let coach Jordyn know which days you will be attending practices so she can split up the rosters. We have added practice on Fridays for Discover to compensate for coming either Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday. If you are adamant about swimming additional practices or have scheduling conflicts please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your specific situation.

We need everyone's support with our major annual fundraiser. We have a lot of prizes to give away for the swimmers that raise the most money and have several facility projects that need attention.
