West Weekly

Nick Chevalier

Spooky season is here! The fall colors are out and the weather may change at any moment so soak up sunshine when you see it. Make sure to carve your pumpkins and get ready for trick-or-treaters in another couple of weeks. With all the fallen leaves, please be sure to wipe your feet when you enter the facility!

Director of Lessons Brooklynn Leaving WEST

We are deeply saddened to share that Brooklynn, our Director of Lessons, has decided to leave West. Over the past three years, she has guided thousands of children through our learn-to-swim program and led our dynamic team of instructors. Brooklynn has impacted all facets of WEST, she’s seen many team kids come through our lessons program, managed older team and recreation swimmers who've become employees, helped coach swim camps, lifeguarded during lap swim, and even built some of our window frames! Her contribution is immeasurable and her presence on our pool deck will sorely be missed. We thank her wholeheartedly for everything and are excited to hear about her next adventure. Brooklynn's last day will be Tuesday, October 22nd so make sure to wish her a warm farewell before then.

Equipment at Open Swim - NO Life Jackets or Outside Flotation Assistants

Swimmers can use kickboards, noodles and equipment provided by WEST. We can’t consistently monitor and regulate outside flotation devices so therefore cannot allow their use at the facility. We encourage younger swimmers to learn to support themselves in the water without any flotation aids. In our experience, flotation aids can act as a crutch that limits progress in learning to swim. Younger swimmers who are not independent in the water must be accompanied and monitored closely by an adult at all times.
