PRE-SENIOR (PS)
The Pre-Senior Group is a year-round training group designed to bridge the gap between age group swimming and the demands of the Senior Group. Swimmers in this group are developing their competitive focus, learning to train with consistency and purpose, and building the technical, aerobic, and mental foundations needed to succeed at higher levels. This group balances skill development with increased training expectations and introduces leadership and accountability in a supportive environment.
GOALS:

Build technical proficiency across all four strokes

Develop consistent training habits and attendance

Foster personal accountability and team awareness

Achieving multiple “BB” time standards (Zone 1 North Championships qualifier)

Prepare athletes to meet or exceed Senior Group standards within 1–2 seasons
CHARACTERISTICS:

Ages 12-14

Minimum of 3 ‘B’ times (USA Swimming)

Minimum 80% attendance
-
Demonstrates emerging ownership of training (knows intervals, takes feedback, etc.)

Regular communication with coaches about goals and availability
-
Participation in 80% of PSL meet calendar

Participation in dryland and team functions
-
Willingness to train and race in all strokes and distances
MOVE UP REQUIREMENTS TO SENIOR:

Multiple 'BB' times (Zone 1 North Championships qualifier)

At least one Senior Open/Senior 2 qualifying time standard (if 50FR, must have the 50 plus another event)
FAMILY EXPECTATIONS Update to the 2025-2026 Season
- Support athlete-driven, team-focused experience as led by the coaching staff
- Support development of independent, team-minded young athletes
- Family volunteering: Pre-Senior 14 hours per session (42 hours per season). Sessions run September-December, January-April, and May-August.
- All families with athletes participating in a home meet are required to work a minimum of two shifts (approximately four hours total) per meet. Note: Marshalls & Officials are waived from this requirement. Marshals may work one shift.

USA Swimming Officials in good standing may work or train to satisfy team service hours

All families with athletes participating in an away meet are required to work a minimum of one shift per day. Note: Officials are waived from this requirement.
- Any outstanding hours from a given session will be charged at the start of each new session (January 1st, May 1st, and September 1st). Accounts will be charged $40 per outstanding service hour.

FEES
- $120 Annual PSL Team Registration
- $89 Annual USA Swimming Membership
- $195 per month Practice Dues (excluding meet entry fees)
PRACTICE TIMES
Practice times are subject to change
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 5:00-5:30pm dryland, 5:30-7:00pm swim
- Tuesday/Thursday: 5:00-5:20 dryland, 5:20-7:00pm swim
- Saturday: 6:30-8:00am swim

- Well-fitted swim suit (recommended one-piece for females, brief or jammer for males)
- Kickboard
- Long or Short Fins - Floating fins or Arena Powerfin Pro
- Paddles
- Buoy
- Swimmer Snorkel
- Mesh bag (recommended)
- Conejo SwimWorks - Team Apparel (team store for parkas, backpacks and more)
