PRIDE 9s (P9)
Pride 9 is an introduction to the fundamentals of competitive swimming. The group focus is learning and developing technique, while demonstrating the execution of challenging drills and practices. Athletes in Pride 9 should have the basic understanding of all four strokes and should be able to dive and turn legally.
GOALS:
- Develop a greater understanding of swimming technique. For example: stroke, flipturns, dives
- Practice sportsmanship skills
- Introduce dryland to athletes and understanding proper form
- Being able to use a clock to time their work outs
- Working towards achieving “BB” and “A” time standards (Zone 1 North Championships qualifier: “BB” times for 9&Over, “A” times for 8&Under)
- Learning while having fun
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Ages 9 through 11
- Minimum 60% attendance
- Participate in swim meets
- Participate in dryland
MOVE UP REQUIREMENTS TO PRIDE 12:
- Participate in swim meets
- Participate in dryland
- Participation in PSL block party meets
- Participation of at least ONE PSL home meet
- Demonstrate a desire and commitment to compete at the next level
FAMILY EXPECTATIONS updated 2025-2026 season:

Support athlete-driven, team-focused experience as led by the coaching staff

Support development of independent, team-minded young athletes

Family volunteering: Pride 9s & Pride 12s 10 hours per session (30 hours per season). Sessions run September-December, January-April, and May-August.

All families with athletes participating in a home meet are required to work a minimum of two shifts (approximately four hours total) per meet. Note: Marshalls & Officials are waived from this requirement. Marshals may work one shift.

USA Swimming Officials in good standing may work or train to satisfy team service hours

All families with athletes participating in an away meet are required to work a minimum of one shift per day. Note: Officials are waived from this requirement.

Any outstanding hours from a given session will be charged at the start of each new session (January 1st, May 1st, and September 1st). Accounts will be charged $40 per outstanding service hour.

FEES:
- $120 Annual PSL Team Registration updated for 2025-2026 season.
- $89 Annual USA Swimming Membership
- $175 per month Practice Dues (excluding meet entry fees)
PRACTICE TIMES:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 4:00-5:10pm swim

Tuesday/Thursday: 4:00-5:10pm swim, 5:10-5:30pm dryland

- PSL Team Cap
- Well-fitted swim suit (recommended one-piece for females, brief or jammer for males)
- Kickboard (Junior size recommended for 8-Unders)
- Long Fins
- Swimmer Snorkel
- Pull Buoy (Junior size recommended for 10-Unders)
- Mesh bag (recommended)
- Conejo Swimworks - Team Apparel (team store for parkas, backpacks and more)
