WELCOME COACH BRITTANY!
Please join us in welcoming the newest member to our coaching staff - Brittany Copeland! Coach Britt will be joining the Turkey Thicket site this week and will be working with our Age Group swimmers there.

Coach Britt (she/her) began swimming competitively when she was eight years old in Houston, Texas. She swam throughout her childhood and went on to swim for the University of Houston and later graduated from North Carolina State University with bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Africana Studies. As an undergraduate student, she founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing drowning rates among under-resourced youth. Through this program, she provided free swim lessons and water safety education to children ages 3–17, combining her love of swimming with a deep commitment to community impact.
After graduating, Coach Britt moved to Philadelphia, where she trained under legendary coach Jim Ellis and earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. She worked in Philadelphia as a licensed therapist, elementary school counselor, and swim coach before relocating to Washington, DC. Now living D.C., Coach Britt attends Howard University pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology with research centered on the mental health and well-being of Black women college athletes.
With over 15 years of coaching experience spanning from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, Coach Britt has worked with swimmers at every level—from developmental beginners to elite competitors. She is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, refine their technique, and develop a healthy, joyful relationship with the sport. Outside the pool, Coach Britt enjoys live music, baking sweet treats, and spending quality time with friends and family.
