Safe Sport Training and  Important Safe Sport Policies, Procdures, and Forms:

DC Wave Swim Team is committed to the health and safety of all of our team members. USA Swimming's Safe Sport program helps provide our team and its members with important information and resources to help keep our swimmers and team environment safe for all. 

All team members, including coaches and parents, are encouraged to report any behavior that they deem to be unsafe. Coaches especially are considered mandatory reporters, and are required by law to report any information they may have or be aware of concerning abuse of a minor. To report a Safe Sport violation please contact one or more of the following:

Athlete Protection Training for Athletes 18&Older
Annual Requirement: Athlete Protection Training (APT) is an annual requirement for all USA Swimming adult members 18 and older. 

Individual AccountsAthletes 18 and older must complete the training under their own account

Parents should not use their own account to complete the training for their child.

 

To take the USA Swimming Athlete Protection Training (APT), one must log in to their own USA Swimming account at  www.usaswimming.org/learn or www.usaswimming.org/apt, navigate to the "Education" or "Course Catalog" section, and complete the "SafeSport Trained Core Course". 

 

Your individual account must be used, and you may need to contact your Local Swimming Committee (LSC) registrar if you encounter a "No Results Found" message or have issues with your membership information. 

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1.  Go to USA Swimming Education Portal:  www.usaswimming.org/learn or www.usaswimming.org/apt
  2.  Log In: Log in to your individual USA Swimming account. 
  3. Find the Training:
    • From your dashboard, click "EDUCATION"  in the blue stripe.
    • Select "COURSE CATALOG"
    • Find and click on the "SafeSport Trained Core Course". 
  4. Complete the Course: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the course modules. 
  5. Check Your Record: After completion, you will receive an email, and your membership record will be updated with your new APT expiration date. 
  • Troubleshooting "No Results Found": If you receive a "No Results Found" message, double-check your name and birthday, or contact your LSC registrar to ensure your information is correct in the USA Swimming database.
