Takoma Aquatic Center Maintenance Closure Dates and Practice Relocation Plan

Greetings Takoma Families, 

The Takoma Aquatic Center is scheduled to close for it's annual maintenance and repairs on Monday, February 2nd and reopen Monday, March 16. Annual maintenance closures allow for DGS and hired contractors to have full access to the facility to properly address the many issues that can affect a busy and heavily utliized pool like Takoma. It is vital that workers have ample time and full access to the facility to make much needed repairs before the Black History Swim Meet (February 13-15). 

Additionally, this fiscal year Takoma's locker rooms will receive a full rennovation. This additional work is scheduled to last up to a month, and will take place after the Black History Meet. Because of this scheduled work, Takoma practices will need to be moved during the month of February and early March. A temporary schedule is available below. Takoma practice groups will be reloacted to the following facilities:

  • Marie Reed Aquatic Center - 2200 Champlain Street, NW DC
  • Reservoir Park Aquatic Center - 10 Lower Service Court, NW DC
  • Wilson Aquatic Center - 4551 Fort Drive, NW DC 

If your swimmer is unable to attend practices during this time period because of the location and/or schedule changes please notify their primary coach so that they can be excused from practices. Please also remind your swimmer to bring any training equipement home with them this week so that they can have access to it at their temporary practice location.
