Barracuda Weather Policy for Practices:
Unless the pools are shut down from higher up the chain (which is very rare), our coaches will always attempt to hold practice, even in the rain.
Of course, thunder or other severe weather can cause a practice to be canceled -- but even then we're usually not permitted to cancel until very close to the last minute -- even if we've been watching the storm on the radar all day. We're sorry for the inconvenience of not being able to tell you ahead of time and remind everyone that practice is never mandatory and that parents are welcome to use their discretion about whether to attend.
Per pool rules, if there's thunder (which is heard at the pool by lifeguards, not at your home), then everyone must get out of the pool for 30 minutes. Due to the short length of our practices, this may or may not cause one age group's practice block to be canceled but not the next. In the event that your age group's practice block is canceled, then you are welcome to wait and join the next age-group if you wish (although it is not required.)
In the event that only a single age-group is canceled, we will not send out a notification if those affected are already at the pool to hear the whistle.
In the event that a later practice-group is canceled before everyone is at the pool, or in the event that an entire practice is canceled, then we will do our best to notify everyone as quickly as possible. The notification will be sent by Facebook and by email. Please note that this process can take several moments.
