The Golden Marlins Swim Team is volunteer run.
It takes over 70 volunteer positions to run each home meet!
We are requiring that each family commit to fulling a minimum of 5 volunteer "points" this season. Most volunteer positions are worth 1 pt. This commitment is required from all families, including Intro the Marlins families.
No swimmer is required to attend meets, but all swimmers, including Intro to Marlins swimmers are encouraged to attend at least 1 meet. We also expect that all families check the signups for every social and meet that they attend to make sure that the needs are met. Marlins will host a Mock Meet on Thursday, May 29th. This is where you will have the chance to learn how to be a volunteer timer and how heating works. Thank you so much for your help and support.
The Volunteer SignUp will open up at 7am on Monday, May 5th. If you know or suspect your swimmer will not be participating in any meets, make sure to sign up to help at the various socials or other jobs that are needed during practice times. We need everyone's help to make this season a success!
If someone from your family is unable, for any reason, to fullfill at least 5 volunteer points this season, there is an additional $250 VOLUNTEER OPT OUT FEE. We will be in touch with families throughout the season with volunteer needs. We require that all registered families keep a credit card on file during summer seaon. Your credit card on file will be charged at the end of the season if you do not complete a minimum of 5 volunteer points.
Swim Meet Officials
Swim Meet Officials “officiate” swim meets, i.e. they ensure that swimmers swim according to the rules set by the league and state association. Being an official counts as a "season-long" assignment. Officials are expected to officiate most of our home meets and at away meets as needed.
In order to be an Official, you must attend a training session prior to the start of the season. Trainings are usually held in May or early June. New officials must attend both dry land and in water lectures, returning officials are only required to attend a dry land lecture. Generally, officials training consists of a self-study portion and an observational pool session lasting for a few hours. If you are interested and for more details, please use the "contact us" link.
