Who Should Swim With The Marlins?

Any child who wants to improve their swimming skills and join a fun and committed group should join the Marlins. Competitive swimming programs provide many benefits to young athletes.  Swimmers experience success and learn how to deal with defeat while becoming healthy and physically fit. Those swimmers who are not interested in the competitive aspect of the sport will benefit from the development of self-discipline, good sportsmanship, and time management skills. There is room for both kinds of swimmers on the Golden Marlins Swim Team.

What Should You Expect from the Summer Season?

The summer season usually runs 10 weeks, starting the week before Memorial Day. The season ends with the State Meet at the end of July. Practice is 5 days a week with meets most Saturdays, beginning the first weekend in June. Meets take place at our home pool, Splash in Golden, or at one of the other pools in our league.

What are the Swimmer Requirements?

Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the pool, any stroke. Swimmers age 18 and under may join the team.
In order for everyone to enjoy the full benefit of our practices, we ask that all Marlins:

1. Show up to practice on time
2. Be prepared to work hard
3. Let your coach know if you have any medical conditions

What are the Parent Requirements?

Marlins Swim Team is run 100% on parent power.  Without all of us doing our part, there would be no Golden Marlins team. ALL families are required to complete "volunteer" hours to support the team, and there are many ways to accomplish this.

  • Managing the team by serving on the Board of Directors

  • Assistance at Meets: Set-up and tear down, Timing, Judging, Concessions

  • Spirit Wear Coordination

  • Team Pictures

  • Social Event Planning-Public Relations

  • Fund-Raising
