The Grandview Gators is a summer swimming and diving program that accomodates all levels of ability. Our goal is to promote physical fitness and sense of pride through teamwork, team spirit and sportsmanship; values that athletes will take into other areas of their lives, school, work and family.

AWAY 12 & Under Developmental Meet Results: 6/14/25

A few points to mention about Developmental meets have a "time out" time for each event.  If a swimmer achieves the time an "X" will be noted next to their name at the end of the finishes.  They will recieve a special ribbon for achieving the time.  There were many DQs noted at the Developmental meet, not unexpected as the younger swimmers learn each stroke, finish, turn, and start.   We will review DQs with swimmers at practice.  We discuss mechanics of stroke, finishes etc. daily at practice.  We approach DQs as a learning opportunity.

In breaststroke, some of the common DQs - 1 hand touch at the turn or finish, scissor kick, not lifting head (taking a breath) with each pull, breaststroke pull to the hips/past chest, flutter kick in between breastkicks.   

Fly-  not kicking with legs together or on the same plane (flutter kick)

Free- false start, not touching the wall on a turn

back- most common is turning over at finish.
