On August 3, 1971 Glenolden Swim Club hosted the First Delco Meet of Champions, which was one of the finest swimming meets ever held in Delaware County. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Delco Meet of Champions, which was inaugurated by Glenolden Swim Club then under the direction of Bill Hiddeman, will present the best swimmers of the Delco Swim League divisions A, B, & C as they compete against their counterparts in the other Divisions.

7:30-8:10AM RTSC gates open. Open warm-ups for all swimmers

8:10-9:40AM assigned team warmups then 1 way sprints from 9:40-9:53AM

9:25AM Timers and Officials meeting at the flagpole/shed area (Balloters report to the table in front of the shed for training)

ENTRIES

Times and entries will be based on submission from each Divisional Championship Meet and will be entered as submitted.  Coaches are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the entries for each club. The Host Team will have emailed entrance fee costs to each club on Saturday, July 30th.  All entry fees must be paid for by one check from each club prior to the start of the meet. Please have all checks payable to RTSC GATORS.        

VOLUNTEERS

Each team is asked to provide a min of 2 volunteers to help us run the meet.  Please register on our Sign-Up Genius link – we will post this link after 1PM on Saturday, July 30th to our meet information page found here.  We will need 20 timers, 3 balloters, and 12 place judges.

SCRATCHES AND SUBSTITUTIONS

  A scratch meeting will be held at 9:15 am on the Sun Deck.

  1. The referee will request scratches from the coaches.
  2. A scratch counts as a swum event for the swimmer and applies to their 3-event limit.
  3. No substitutions in individual events will be permitted.
  4. A swimmer scratched from an individual event may not be substituted into a relay.
  5. Any swimmer entered in more than 3 events will be automatically scratched from His/her last individual event.      
  6. A heat will be reseeded only if there are less than 2 swimmers after scratches.
  7. Relay substitutions may be made only in exceptional circumstances.
  8. Failure to show for an event will result in immediate elimination from all other

PARKING

Please be advised that additional parking is available at Amosland Elementary School, the grassy area along the fields next to the pool and the municipal field parking lot on the other side of Route 420. There will be volunteer parking attendants in bright green shirts. Please comply with their directions.   Do not park in the Delco Steaks or Frontier Saloon parking lots. They will have your car towed.

SPECTATORS

Bleachers are available for spectator seating. In addition, RTSC has ample chairs and tables around the grounds for seating. If you would like to bring your own chair, you’re a welcome to do so. If you have a spectator with special seating needs, please make us aware of it and we will make appropriate accommodations.

TEAM LOCATIONS

Each club will have an assigned area around the pool grounds. Team areas will be designated with a lawn sign. Swimmers are encouraged to stay with their team and cheer on their teammates.

READY BENCH

The ready area will be located on grassy area behind the starting blocks. Swimmers will move down to the deck area as their event draws closer. Please have your swimmer to the ready bench area at least 3 events prior to swimming.

AWARDS

Individual and Relay awards can be picked up by the coach at the conclusion of the meet.  They will be available at the swim team shed next to the flagpole.  We are also going to have a Female & Male Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet and an Outstanding Relay of the Meet Award.

ELITE MEET

All first and second place finishers must check in at the Elite Meet table located on the sun deck. If a swimmer is unable to make the Elite meet their spot will then go to the next fastest place. All first and second place finishers must check in at the table whether they intend to swim on Tuesday or not.

CONDUCT OF MEET

All coaches are responsible for the appropriate conduct of their team members during the meet.

ONLY COACHES AND OFFICIALS WILL BE PERMITTED ON THE DECK AS SPACE IS LIMITED.
