Fairwood Barracuda Coaches
Coach Mike swam for Fairwood for nine years along with swimming for Chinook Aquatic Club for eight years and at Kentridge High School for four years. At Kentridge, Mike was the J unior and S enior captain and lead his team with enthusiasm, along with competing at state all four years. Mike turned his focus to coaching in the summer of 2016. Having swam for Fairwood himself, he can relate to his swimmers and better prepare them for the next level along with other programs. He also knows that summer swim is FUN! Mike swam in college and is currently a year round coach for Chinook Aquatic club coaching their Renton Junior group. He’s passionate about helping all of his swimmers get better each day and reach for success. Mike is not only a coach, but strives to be a role model and friend to everyone.
My name is Madelline Kalenius and I am so excited to be back coaching the Barracudas this season! I recently graduated from the University of Washington and will be starting grad school at UW in the fall. I started swimming as a Barracuda at age 7 and continued throughout my senior year of high school. I swam for club teams and my high school team, and have been an assistant coach for the Fairwood Barracudas and the Kennedy Catholic Girls Swim Team for the last 3 seasons. My favorite stroke has always been breaststroke and I love watching kiddos get the hang of it! Summer Swim is my favorite time of the year and I cannot wait to get the season started! Go Barracudas!
