The CTC Tiger Sharks is a parent-run organization. We depend upon parent volunteers to run the team and perform the many required roles during the meets.

Volunteer Requirement

We require each family to contribute a minimum number of volunteer hours each season. The exact hours will not be known until the season begins, as it depends upon the number of families that register. As a guide, it is likely to be 15 hours (five events for most roles) in the 2025 season.

Not all volunteering is done on the pool deck during team events. Parents filling various team roles are exempt from the hourly requirement, as they contribute many more hours than the minimum performing that role (e.g. treasurer, liaison, A/B team reps). Volunteer hours are also counted for official training sessions and helping at social events.

If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from volunteering, please let us know before the season begins.

 Non-volunteerism:

Every year we find that the majority of families meet (and sometimes vastly exceed) their minimum volunteer commitment, and some families volunteer infrequently, or not at all.

To address this situation, we are implementing the following procedures:

  • All families will provide a $250 volunteer deposit via a personal check before time trials on June 7th, 2025. Checks should be made payable to the CTC Tiger Sharks
  • .Families who meet or exceed the 15 hour volunteer requirement will have their check returned at the end of the season.
  • Families who do not meet the volunteer requirement will have their checks deposited to the team account.

Volunteer Activities:

Most volunteer activities require no training, experience or special skills. They can be picked-up on the day of the event. Some examples are:

• Working on the concession stand

• Timing the events

• Setting up the pool deck

• Entering times into the computer system

• Walking the timer papers from the lanes to the computer operators

We also need various certified officials who have completed training to perform critical roles during the meets. Typically, a single training session of a few hours is required to become certified. Listed below is the schedule to become a certified official.

This year we are offering a 15% reimbursement of the registration fee to parents who commit to serving as an official for the 2025 season. Please submit this Google Form to let us know that you are interested.
