Q: How do you become a member for the Reeves Rapids Swim team?
A: Go to the front office of Reeves Community Center to register, fill out information sheet, and pay your fee.  A copy of each swimmer's birth certificate is required to be on file.

Q: What requirements do swimmers need to meet to join the team?
A: There are no requirements to joining Reeves Rapids.  However, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards if they are 10 and under or 50 yards if they are 11-18 years of age without assistance before they can compete in a meet.

Q: Are there any registration fees?
A: For the 2020 season, registration fees are $___.00 for city residents and $___.00 for non-residents.  Members of Reeves Community Center eligible for 20% discount.  High School students have a reduced fee of $_____.

Q: Do swimmers have to purchase any special suits or gear?
A: Reeves Rapids have a team swim suit. Swimmers are not required to buy one but all swimmers have to wear a one piece swim suit (jammers for the boys) at swim meets. Goggles and swim cap are nice to have.

Q: When does the team practice?
A: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:30-6:30 p.m.  A practice for older swimmers may be available on Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 -8:00 a.m.  Younger swimmers are not allowed at the early morning practice.

Q: What are the competition divisions?
A: Depending on the stroke, ages 6 and under, 7-8, 8 and under, 9-10, 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. 

Q: When do meets typically take place and how long do they last?
A: The swim meets usually start second week of June. Typically there are 2 meets a week either on Tues/Sat or Thurs/Sat. Meets last about 4 hours. 

Q: What role do parents play with the team?
A: Reeves Rapids always needs volunteers for Timers, Clerk of Course, Ribbon Writers, set up before meet, and clean up after meets.  Parents may volunteer online under events.  Unfilled positions will be assigned to parents on a rotation schedule.  (Volunteering removes you from a rotation).

Q: What should team members and families bring to a meet?
A: Chairs, sunscreen, towels, swim suit, swim cap, and goggles for home and away meets. If it is an away meet, water, Gatorade, snacks to go with the other items, money for concessions.
