Flower Valley Swim Pre-Team 

Pre-Team is for kids ages 4-7 who want to learn the basics of swim and join the frog family. An adult must stay at the pool during pre-team practice, this is not a drop off team. Swimmers must be willing to get in the shallow end with one of the coaches. Pre-team swimmers will practice 4 mornings a week and participate in a mini meet on the morning of Friday, July 18. 

Parents are encouraged to register swimmers ASAP once registration opens because registration will be closed when we reach full capacity. There will be a list of qualified swim instructors for families to arrange individual or group lessons for those under 4 to work on their swimming skills. 

There are two levels of pre-team. Please read the descriptions carefully and sign your swimmer up for the level that best fits their needs. Coaches may move a swimmer to a different level if needed. 

Tadpoles: Tadpoles cover a lot of beginner swimmers.  It can be for swimmers who are just getting comfortable in the pool. They will learn to put their face in the water, blow bubbles, and begin doing kicks and pulls. It can also be for swimmers who are already comfortable putting their face in the water. They will continue to learn how to kick and pull while breathing and will begin to swim on their own without flotation support.

Pollyzoggs:  Pollyzoggs covers swimmers who are almost ready to join the big team, but can not swim a full length of the pool. They can swim on their own and are water safe in deeper water. They will practice swimming a length of the pool with support. Pollyzoggs may participate in a home B meet once they can swim across the pool unassisted in the required time. 

Pre-Team Practices

Pre-Team starts Wednesday, June 18. Practices are every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. There is no practice on Thursday mornings.

Mini Meet

The pre-team will have a mini meet on Friday, July 18. The meet will be followed by a celebration for Tadpoles, Pollyzoggs and their families under the pavilion. Questions about the pre-team can be answered by contacting one of the Pre-Team Reps at [email protected]

Costs/Fees

Family Fee:                $125 (n/a if you have already registered a swimmer on the 2025 FVST)

Swimmer Fee:            $70 per swimmer 

Form of Payment:      Online (PayPal or Credit Card), Cash, or Check (made payable to FVST) 

Pre-Team Volunteer Coaches

Current swim team members who are swimming in at least the 13-14 age group and are interested in coaching the pre-team, will have an opportunity to sign up during the first two weeks of practice. There are a limited number of volunteer openings for the pre-team coaching staff. Training is required for all pre-team coaches and SSL Hours can be earned for all Pre-Team Coaches.  Pre-team coaching is a serious commitment, and coaches are expected to have proper training, attend every practice, and follow a strict code of conduct.
