Swim Meet 101 - How to do a swim meet

MAGGIE MOORE

We're excited to see you at the practice meet at Cook Creek tomorrow!

Pool: Cook Creek Pool is located at 8711 Lone Tree Pkwy, Lone Tree, CO 80124.  Note: The upper leisure pool will be CLOSED during the meet for ALL swimmers and families. Pets are not permitted inside the pool area at any time.

Meet Program:  The program for the meet was sent out earlier today.  We strongly recommend you print a hard copy out. There will be 2 attachments, one program in alphabetical order with the kid’s event numbers.  The other will be the “heat sheet” which shows the events in order. You will need this information to know when  and in which lane your child is swimming.

To learn all about how to read the heat sheets, how to get your swimmers to their events, what to bring to a swim meet, and how to do the special writing of events on their arm or leg with Sharpie, please check out our informative Meet 101 handout.

Important Reminders: Please remember to bring sunscreen, multiple towels, blankets, chairs, sweatshirts, sweatpants, Sharpies, umbrellas/tents, and anything to help keep kids entertained between races.  Also snacks and hydration arre very important!

Volunteers: Please look for the Volunteer Check-in Table when you arrive at the pool. Dannie Greenleaf, the Volunteer Coordinator, will be there with a sheet to check your attendance and give you a badge.  Both shifts need to check in with Dannie  before the start of the meet.   We will have brief information meetings for Stroke and Turn Officials and for Timers before the meet starts, listen for the announcement.  The officials will be at the starter table and the timers by the starting blocks.  Dannie can brief all on any jobs you have volunteered for.

Heating: This is where the kids will go to line up for their event – when the time approaches.  Remember to keep an eye out for the Event and Heating numbers that will be displayed at the side of the pool (see Meet 101).

Any questions the day of the meet - look for members of the Leadership Team wearing lanyards.

GO SHARKS!!! SEE YOU AT THE POOL!!
