Holly Park Sharks Newsletter
Week of June 13th, 2022
Hello Sharks!
We hope you enjoyed our first official meet at Castle Pines! It was super fun to see so many families in attendance and watch all the kids swim their hearts out! Thank you to all the families who volunteered to help the Crocs make the meet a success! I know they were super grateful for all the help and support! A huge shout out to Amber Linberg for stepping in at the last minute to cover the stroke and turn shift! Thanks Amber!
POOL AND PRACTICE -
The pool is open and the normal schedule has begun! See below:
Morning Practices:
M-F Ages 11 & over 7-8 a.m.
M-F Ages 10 & under 8-9 a.m.
Optional Evening Practices:
Mon/Wed all ages 5-6 p.m.
T/TH 13 & over only 5-6 p.m
FUN EVENT:
Since we’re back in the pool and have been unable to have our initial fun event for kids and families, we are planning a last minute event tomorrow, Wednesday June 15th at evening practice from 5-7 p.m. Come to evening practice and the kids can swim from 5-6 p.m. and then we’ll have a family scavenger hunt from 6-7 p.m. Popsicles will be provided for the kids too!
NEXT SWIM MEET :
Saturday, June 18th @ Southglenn Country Club: 1489 E. Easter Ave. Centennial, CO 80122
Our next Swim meet is at Southglenn with the Gators. Please click on the following link to see their welcome letter which includes all the important information for the meet: SOUTHGLENN WELCOME LETTER & MEET INFORMATION. . If you do need to leave the meet early, please let a coach know so they aren’t looking for you in heating. Coaches sometimes also need to replace swimmers who scratch events so it is helpful to know who is still at the meet to help in these instances as well.
RIBBONS:
Look for your ribbons and speeding tickets in the boxes/file folders under the awning on the tables this week!
FUNDRAISER:
Our Annual Swim-a-Thon is around the corner and will be held on Wednesday June 22nd in lieu of evening practice and food will be provided for the swimmers and volunteers. The Swim-A-Thon is a standing tradition for our team and over the last nine years, we have donated a percentage of our proceeds to a different charity. Swimmers collect flat rate or per lap donations ahead of time and then swim as many laps as they can. This year we will have this event in lieu of an evening practice. I have linked the Fundraiser Document here if you would like to start collecting your donations early. We will be raising money for Reach out and Read Colorado.
PICTURE DAY:
Friday, June 24th at 7:30am with Imagetek (in place of practice)
OUT OF BREATH ORDERS:The second round of orders from Out of Breath is slowly coming in and I am in touch with the store almost daily. I will let you know when we will be at practices with the rest of the gear to pick up. They are working with 23 teams this year and do most of the printing in house and are working super hard to get everything done for us. I do still have a few suits. If I emailed you about your suit, I will have them at the event tomorrow night.
We also still have caps available for purchase for $6.00 each.
VOLUNTEER SHIFT SIGN UPS -
The volunteer shifts are full for the meet- Thank you! If you are one of our families just practicing and not swimming in meets, there are lots of other volunteer shifts that don’t happen at meets and we need your help too. Please reach out to Dannie Greenleaf and she will work with you so you can still get your shifts in. You can also email her at [email protected]
SUIT AVAILABLE:
One of our families has a sz.36 female team suit if you are in need of one and this size would work for you. Please reach out and I can share contact information.
.
BOOSTER & VOLUNTEER CHECKS -
Thank you to everyone who has paid their booster and volunteer fees! We appreciate your efforts in getting these to us. Our treasurer, Julie Burngardt will continue to reach out to you as needed to answer questions and to collect any remaining dues. You may bring checks to the pool and give to any board member or venmo. Please reach out with any questions to Patty Kreinbrink or Shannon Parish, Co-Parent Delegates or Julie Brungardt, our Treasurer ([email protected] or [email protected]).
