Shark Season is almost here!!
Hello Shark Families!
Can you believe swim starts next week? Especially with this crazy weather we have today! We are super excited for our returning sharks and to welcome lots of new sharks to our little swim family! Be on the lookout for a new team swim cap during the first week of practice. A few items of business to get the season started strong.

Please make sure you are registered with both South Suburban and Holly Park Sharks PRIOR to the first practice. Due to insurance requirements, anyone not registered with both will not be allowed in the water. Reach out to [email protected] with questions.

Train with an Olympian Opportunity! Sign up for this special, once in a lifetime opportunity to train with Olympic Gold Medalist, Jason Lezak. This unique event is Fri, June 2 from 8AM-11:30AM at Hills West Pool, 10458 E Crestline Place, Englewood, CO. Cost is $75 per swimmer includes water instruction, autographs and a talk with all the kids and parents. Click here to sign up or for more details. See attached flyer.

Upcoming dates:
o Popsicle Social: Wednesday May 31 5-7 in lieu of practice. Bring a picnic dinner and drinks to the pool. Families can swim, play games, participate in a “Get to know you” scavenger hunt, and of course, eat popsicles!
o Swim a Thon: Wednesday June 21 5-7 in lieu of practice. Kids get the opportunity to raise money for a cause in our community. More info to come.
o Picture day: Wednesday June 23rd in lieu of AM practice. 7am for all ages, individual and team pictures. More info to come.
o End of season Banquet: Sunday July 16th. More info to come
o Practice Schedule: The first two weeks will be Mon-Fri. Mon, May 15th: All ages evening practice 5-7. This will be a dry land practice. A board member will be there to welcome parents and answer questions.
o May 16-26 (Mon-Fri PM): 10 and under from 5-6 and 11 and up from 6-7
o May 30-end of season (Mon-Fri): AM practice 11 and up from 7-8, 10 and under 8-9.
o May 30-end of season PM practice Mon & Wed only. 10 and under from 5-6 and 11 and up from 6-7

All pool locations can be found on the Holly Park Website under Pools. Nervous about your first swim meet? Reach out to a board member or returning family and we’ll help you though.
o June 3rd . Dual meet with Canterberry @ Canterberry
o June 10th . Dual meet with Foxridge @ home
o June 17th . Dual meet with Castle Pines Village @ Castle Pines Village
o June 24th . Dual meet with Hills West @ home
o July 1st . Bye week-Happy 4th of July
o July 8th . Dual meet with Dam West @ home
o Prelims:
> July 10th at Dam West for ages 9-10, 11-12
> July 11th at Hills West for ages 8 and Under, 13-18
o Champs: July 15th @ Hills West
o All Stars: July 22, location TBD
· Additional Volunteer Opportunities:
o We are looking for one more person to co-manage Clerk of Course (herding the volunteers that herd the kids during swim meets). It's an important job and 3 home meets fulfill all 4 volunteer shifts for your family.
o There are still a couple more Stroke and Turn Official trainings available during the month of May. Stroke and Turn is front row seat for the action and isn’t nearly as intimidating as one may think! Part of the training is shadowing with an existing S&T which counts toward your volunteer shifts. Our starter, Josh Ritsick, is happy to answer specific questions or tell you more. 303-819-7325
