The First Meet is Here!!
Welcome Shark Families!
Get out your caps, googles, and shark fins! It is time for our first meet of the 2024 season! Saturday, June 1 will be a home meet at Holly Pool. Here is some information that we hope you and your families will find helpful! The theme of this meet is “Decades” so come decked out in your favorite decade specific gear!
The meet will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Holly Park warm ups: 7:00-7:25 a.m. Hills West warm ups: 7:25-7:50 a.m.
Friday: HPS families are welcome to bring their shark dens (aka tents) and chairs to set up the night before at 7pm (public closing time.) Please set up on the hill to the east of the pool. The west side is for the visiting team. Watch your email for the heat sheet and entry list. These will help you identify your swimmer’s events and approximate start times. Double check if your child is in a relay at the beginning or end of the meet.
Saturday (meet day!) Check out Swim Meet 101.pdf if you have never been to a meet before. They are organized chaos and so much fun!! There are limited parking spaces at the pool, but there is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. Please be mindful of homes and give our neighbors plenty of space by their driveways. Warm ups are strongly encouraged. However, if you choose not to attend, please arrive at the pool at least 30 min before your child’s first event and check in with a coach. The times posted on the heat sheet are approximate!
Volunteers: Thank you so much for volunteering your time to help us run a smooth and efficient meet! Please check in at the volunteer table near the southeast corner of the pool. We will have brief information meetings for Stroke and Turn Officials as well as Timers at the south end of the pool around 7:40 am. Please listen for announcements. There are some spots not yet filled. Check out the signup if you aren’t volunteering yet. The meet won’t be successful without our Fin-tastic volunteers!
Heating: The heating area will be in the grass next to the large green slide at the southwest corner of the pool. Remember to keep an eye out for the Event and Heating numbers that will be hanging on the fence on the North side of the pool. One helpful request of our Heating coordinators and Timers – please label the younger kids name and age on the back of their shoulder.
Concessions: Our concessions team will be offering Santiago’s burritos and fresh pancakes for breakfast. Snack items including donuts, cup-o-noodles, chips, hot chocolate, candy and a variety of cold drinks will be available throughout the meet. We will be accepting cash or venmo @HollyParkSharksCO.
See you on Saturday!
