Shark Season is About to Begin!

Carolyn Fredericks

Greetings, Holly Park Sharks!

It is hard to believe, but our season begins in just one week! Warning - this email is long... But it is full of the information needed to get our season off to a swimming start!

1. First Week of Practice - LOCATION CHANGES!

IMPORTANT! South Suburban has made a few adjustments to our practice location. This is only for our first week of practice. No changes in practice times: 10 & under practice at 5PM; 11 & up practice at 6PM.

  • Monday, May 12 - Holly Pool (all-ages, 5-7PM, dry land practice)
  • Tuesday, May 13 - Goodson
  • Wednesday, May 14 - Goodson
  • Thursday, May 15 - Goodson
  • Friday, May 16 - Holly Pool

Practices will continue in the evening at Holly Pool the week of May 19-23.

2. Team Gear

The first team store through Out of Breath Sports closes today! You’ll need to get your order in by midnight tonight to have gear in time for the first swim meet. A second store will open, but gear will not be delivered until after the first swim meet.

3. Registration is Still Open

Did you forget to register your swimmer this year, or do you know someone who wants to sign up? There is still time! First register with South Suburban (search the catalog for Holly Park Sharks), and then on the Holly Park Sharks website!

4. Volunteer Policy - Please Read!

Our summer swim season cannot run without the help and support of our amazing family volunteers! Please see our volunteer policy below, and email or find us at practice if you need clarification.

  • All families are required to complete a minimum of four volunteer shifts during the season.
  • If you have a swimmer participating in a swim meet, you are expected to volunteer during that meet.
  • If there are volunteer shifts not filled by the Thursday prior to a meet, families with declared swimmers will automatically be assigned to shifts to fill them.
  • At the end of the season, if the volunteer requirement is not met, there will be a $300 charge.

Volunteering is essential, but it is also fun! It is a great way to get to know other Shark families as well as the swimmers. Please visit the Volunteer page on the Holly Park Sharks website for more information and descriptions of the volunteer jobs, and reach out if you have questions!
