Shark Info for Week 4

Carolyn Fredericks
Hi Shark Families!

We've got a ton of information to share with you going into Week 4 of our swim season, including new procedures for relays. Please read through to make sure you don't miss anything!

Swim Meet #1
To all the families who came to the first swim meet on Saturday, thank you! The Sharks did an amazing job, and it was exciting to see them racing their fins off! Thank you to our coaches and all our wonderful parent volunteers - we couldn't do it without you. Three cheers for our amazing Shark community!

Special Clinic - Friday, June 6, 9-10am
The coaches will be holding special clinics on Fridays during the month of June after our regular morning practice times. The focus this week will be starts and turns. Swimmers wishing to work on these skills are encouraged to attend!

Swim Meet #2
Our second dual meet will be held on Saturday, June 7 at Southglenn Country ClubThe declaration deadline is Tuesday, June 3 at midnight. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already signed up to work that meet!

Swimmer Relays - Important!
Relays are super fun but they are also a challenge for our coaches to plan and execute, particularly with our younger Sharks. Moving forward, the coaches would like to implement the following procedures:
  • At Meet Sign-Up: Our coaches cannot access the "notes" boxes on the swimmer declarations, so we need to change the system for communicating relay preferences. When you declare your swimmer for a meet, send an email to Coach Christa ([email protected]) no later than the Tuesday prior to the meet if your swimmer does not wish to participate in one or more relays. (If you do not send an email, the coaches will assume your swimmer wishes to participate in both the medley and free relays!) Keep it simple and use the following format:
    • Swimmer name
    • Meet date
    • Relay preference: no relays, no medley, OR no free
  • Before the Meet: When you get your meet program, search for your swimmer's name to verify relay assignments in addition to individual events. If you spot an error or if your plans change, notify Coach Christa as soon as possible.
  • At the Meet: If you have a swimmer assigned to an 8U or 9-10 medley relay (events 5 through 8), check in with the coaches as soon as you arrive. Also, please take your swimmer to heating shortly before the meet start time. These relay events come up quickly and the coaches need ample time to organize the relay teams.
Team Gear
We still have some gear from the first team store that needs to be picked up. It will be available at the pool during practice. As soon as the gear from the second team store comes in, we will let you know!

Have a great week!
