Seals Aquatics/Strawberry Seals exists to help children thrive as confident, fit and technically proficient swimmers. We nurture a life-long love of swimming by creating an environment where competition, team spirit, personal growth and a strong swim community flourish. We are a competitive swim team that participates in in USA Swimming, Pacific Swimming and the Marin Swim League competitions. Swimmers should have a goal of participating in competitions withing 1-2 years of joining the program. Since basic skills are not taught at practice, swimmers should have a strong foundation of swim lessons prior to joining the team. Swimmers joining at the Seal Pup, Ribbon Seal or Harbor Seal levels may need supplemental swim lessons to advance to the next group.
- Determine Skill Level – Fundamentals, Intermediate, or Advanced?
- Fundamentals groups (SRD PM): Seal Pups, Ribbon Seals, Harbor & Grey Seals Fundamentals groups are designed for swimmers that are still refining foundational skills. In these groups refine and practice skills like a low and level side breath, build kicking power and stamina which is essential for proper race technique, and teach practice etiquettes such as ordered send-offs and circle swimming.
- Intermediate & Advanced (TAM PM, SRD AM) groups require swimmers to be proficient in competitive swimming techniques in three or four strokes, respectively. Attainment of fundamental skills is essential to enjoy these groups as practices involve multi-activity sets that will challenge a swimmer's focus, determination, and stamina.

- Age group (8U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18)
- Skill level (Fundamentals, Intermediate, or Advanced)

Fundamentals: Proficient in freestyle and backstroke. Freestyle proficiency requires sideways breathing. Must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted without stopping. Must be confident and safe in deep water.
Intermediate: Proficient in at least three competition strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and/or butterfly). Can maintain focus during basic interval sets 4 – 12 minutes in duration.
Advanced: Proficient in all four competition strokes and competition turns. Can maintain focus during interval sets 12 - 40 minutes in duration. Swimmers at this level are expected to be focused and model behavior for others.
