3 . Safe Sport Training (use enrollment key FSMIDLAKESmercercountryclub)
Safe Sport has age appropriate training courses for swimmers as well as training for parent volunteers. Please select the appropriate course based on your swimmer's age. All parent volunteers should please complete the Parent Training.
- Safe Sport for Kids (12 and under) Time to Allot: 15 minutes. Audience: Young athletes ages 5-12. This course educates young athletes about the difference between discipline and abuse and encourages them to reach out to a trusted adult when something is not right. It also stresses the importance of being a good teammate, positive sportsmanship, and having a healthy sport environment focused on fun and safety.
- Safe Sport for Youth Athletes (13 and over) Time to Allot: 15 minutes. Audience: Youth athletes ages 13+. This course educates youth athletes about bullying and hazing prevention, tips for positive online interactions, and reporting of sexual abuse and misconduct.
How to Access the SafeSport Required Training
For Mercer Island Country Club
Create an Account:
1. If you do not already have a SafeSport training account, go to:
https://safesporttrained.org?KeyName=FSMIDLAKESmercercountryclub
2. Select Enrollment Key on the landing page and enter the following key where it says “key
name”: FSMIDLAKESmercercountryclub (This will ensure your training is linked to Mercer
Island Country Club).
3. Fill in the required information to sign up. You will not have a Member ID #, so can ignore
this. Enter Midlakes as the “Name of Sport or Community Organization”. Your “Role” is
explained below:
- Athlete/Participant: SafeSport for Kids (Ages 12 and Under)
SafeSport for Youth Athletes (13 and Over)
- Parent/Volunteer: Parents guide to Misconduct in Sport
- Coach: SafeSport Trained
- Swim Team Board Member: Safesport for Volunteers Abuse Awareness and Prevention
4. Once your info is entered correctly, click the light blue “Sign Up” button at the bottom of the
web page.
5. From the Welcome page, select “Catalog” near the center of the page.
6. From the Catalog, select the appropriate training as detailed above by clicking “Enroll”.
From there, you can begin the online training session.
Once you have completed your training, your certificate should be saved within the SafeSport
training system. You can access it at any time to print your certificate in the future if needed.
If you have already completed SafeSport training for another sport within the U.S. Center for
SafeSport system, please let us know so we can link your training to the Midlakes/
Mercer Island Country Club account. Please send of copy of your certificate to [email protected]
