Matt Lemire Assistant Coach |
One of our Senior Coaches for the 2024 season, Matt Lemire has a seasoned history with swimming, having competed from the age of 6 with the Laguna Creek Gators, all the way through the high school and collegiate levels, as well as participating on multiple USA Swimming club teams. His primary events were the 1,650-yard freestyle (mile) and the 500-yard freestyle. In February of 2020, he represented Linfield College at that year’s Northwest Conference Championships, shattering a 25-year-old school record in the mile, a race that changed his life forever. Upon finishing his collegiate swim career in 2020, Matt returned to his Gator roots when he joined his father, Brett, and brother, Jacob, on the coaching staff. Outside of swimming, Matt recently completed the Single Subject Teaching Credential Program at Chico State and is now a credentialed mathematics teacher. He is planning on pursuing a Master’s degree in the near future. Matt Lemire aspires to continue serving as a positive role model and mentor to the Gators, and seeks to improve his coaching pedagogy, and shape athletes into better versions of themselves, both inside and outside of the pool. |
