Who can be a member?

The swim team is open to everyone (members and non-members of South Pointe Swim Club), ages 5 – 18, with the ability to swim one unaided lap (25 yd length) of free style. As a member of the team, swimmers will improve their strokes, increase self-confidence, and learn teamwork in a fun and social atmosphere.

What if my child is swimming 6&under and is afraid to swim by themselves?

Coaches will be in the water during practice and can even be in the water during the first part of the season with your swimmer for the meets.

What are Time Trials?

Time Trials is a meet that we hold at our pool for just our team. We do not compete against another team at this meet.  This meet is an opportunity for swimmers to swim and achieve an official time in their events so that we may seed them in heats with swimmers who have similar times to theirs. This meet is also an opportunity for all of our parent volunteers to practice running a meet and to experience the various volunteer positions that we will ask them to fill for our dual meets

Does my swimmer have to attend every practice?

No. Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many practices as they are able to attend but there is not a minimum requirement for attendance.

Do we need to let you know if we'll be missing practice or will be on vacation?

Your swimmer may want to let the coach know out of curtesy, but attendance is not mandatory and is not taken.

Does my swimmer have to participate in meets?

Yes. Most swimmers on our team participate in most meets. Your swimmer must attend a minimum of 3 dual meets and it is highly encouraged swimmers attend the much anticipated Championship Meet that he/she is qualified to swim. In order to participate in the end-of-season Championship Meets, a swimmer must have participated in at least 3 dual meets (not including Time Trials). This is the minimal meet participation required in order for your swimmer to be considered for team participation.

Do I have to volunteer to work at the swim meets?

Yes. It takes the participation of all of our swim families in order to host and participate in all meets. If we each do our part and volunteer to help out we will have a very successful season. Each family will be required to perform a job function at a predetermined number of meets.  You can expect to work at most home meets and at least one away meet, maybe more, and must participate as a volunteer at any Invitational Meets and Championship Meets that your swimmer participates in.  If necessary, a member of team administration may request that you help out at additional meets if we have jobs that have not been filled.

What is your refund policy?

A full refund (minus a $25 processing fee) will be issued for a swimmer that withdraws from the team prior to May 30, 2025.  No refunds will be given after this time.  If you would like a refund, please send your request to:  [email protected]

How will I know if practice or a meet is cancelled due to inclement weather?

While the temps can often be chilly at the start of the day, it is very rare that we cancel due to cold temps. If there is heavy rain or thunder/ligtnening, we have to cancel practice. In regards to meets, both teams will be in communication to determine if a delay or cancellation needs to happen. In the case of a meet or practice being affected, updates will be sent out via email and posted on our team facebook page.
